After a few hours of testing for anything that may indicate that something's altering Supergirl's mind and finding that everything is normal they come to the conclusion that there's actually nothing wrong with her, which she has been saying through out the whole time the tests were being done.

"I told you guys I'm okay," she says after Alex puts down the equipment and gives a sigh of relief.

"Better safe than sorry," Alex says, her voice soft still laced with worry, because the last time her sister's brain was altered by an unknown object it ended up causing a whole lot of trouble for both Kara and anyone around her.

Kara smiled weakly, still restless about what she saw but she tried to put a face on, maybe Alex will just let it go. She's fine after all.

"So," oh dear, here it comes.

"What did you see in it?" and there it was, just out there for everyone to hear. She feels so transparent all of a sudden, all eyes on her,

"I-I just... saw krypton again, my mom and dad," that clearly did the trick; they didn't push the topic further as it is common knowledge that it is a sore topic for her. But at this point she wished that that was what she actually saw. Not Lena. Why Lena of all people?

"well whatever happened, maybe it's something in your alien DNA because non of us saw anything in it when we found the mirror, maybe it acts as a mirror for your memories," that was definitely NOT a memory  because she'd certainly remember having a child with Lena Luthor.

After the whole endeavor she goes home, maybe a box of donuts and some classic movies will get her mind off it.

A few hours in her marathon her phone starts to ring, she answers it and Alex starts talking about how they were able to go back to the dimension the mirror was from, she tried to interject with "why didn't you tell me? It could've been dangerous, I could've helped" but got cut by Alex saying, "I handled it shut up for a minute and listen to me" so she does,

"So we found these scriptures, pieces of parchment paper, with such strange things, like spells and mythical creatures. But most importantly we found a few pieces that talk about a mirror, the mirror we found, that said it shows you your heart's deepest desires." Alex finally takes a breath, obviously waiting for her sister to answer,

"Are you still there, Kara?"

"uh, yes, and I'll be there in a sec,"

"Wait, what do you mean-" but the phone is already beeping signaling the end of the call.

A few minutes later Supergirl lands softly, her face pale as she heads straight towards Alex who's waiting for her on the balcony,

"Hey, it's okay, oh Kara," she hugs her sister tightly, knowing how hard it always is for her to see her parents alive in any form, her heart aches as Kara hugs her back tighter than the super intended.

"I know you miss them, I know you miss your home," she tries to let go of the hug for a moment and cup her sister's face, her blue eyes about to be flooded by tears,

"And I also know that if they can see how beautiful and brave and smart their daughter grew up to be they'd be so proud, the moment you stepped inside that pod they were already so proud of you, Kara"

Kara closes her eyes, her hands shaky on Alex's,

"I didn't see krypton, Alex" her voice matching her hands, as she tries to wipe away a tear rolling down her cheek,

"I didn't see my parents, they should've been the ones in the mirror," Alex immediately notices her sister's breathing, getting faster, she's about to hyperventilate with the words she's having trouble getting out, she tries to calm her down and they find a place to sit,

"Hey, try to breathe okay? I'm right here, you'll be okay," eventually Kara's breathing evens out, while Alex gently squeezed her hand as she waits for her sister to catch her breath,

for a few seconds they were quiet, with Kara focusing so intently on her hands, her mind in another place, Alex just waited for her to come back, it took a long while when she finally spoke,

"I saw Lena," her voice hushed as she uttered those three words, she doesn't look up from her hands, scared to see judgment in her sister's eyes, scared to see disappointment. She can already hear Alex say it now, "why her? She's a Luthor." But it doesn't come, and before she could brave a peek through her golden hair, Alex hugs her and says,

"I know,"

"What do you mean you knew? But you believed me when I told you I saw my parents,"

Alex looks at her confused sister and let goes of the hug as she chuckled a bit,

"It's not that Kara, I meant I knew how you felt about Lena."

"How could you have known that? I didn't even know that! Not until... I looked at the mirror. And when you said how it worked and when I actually thought about it, I guess..."

"I think half the population of National City knows how in love you are with Lena Luthor," Alex laughed as she saw the horror on Kara's face shaking her out of her daze, she punches her sister lightly

"I-"

"Even as Supergirl you act differently around her, Kara you can't hide it,"

"And also you're really obvious when you have a crush, like reeeally obvious, you get all flustered and you stutter around her, it's quite embarrassing, I'm actually embarrassed to be your sister,"

She finally makes Kara laugh and it warms her heart, her sister finally smiles, wiping off tears that were left on her face she excitedly opens up about what she saw on the mirror and how incredibly bizarre it was, how real and dreamlike it felt, it was like a moving photograph she loved being part of, or re-living a memory that hasn't happened yet. and after a moment of laughing and teasing, Kara looks at her, her cheeks starting to turn red, "can I look at the mirror again?"

"Yeah, of course"

Alex leads her to the mirror; her hands start to sweat and her heart is beating too fast for her to keep up with it as they walk along the hallway. It's a crazy thought, to see Lena start a family, with her. And it fills her heart with hope and dread all at the same time, all of her repressed emotions, finally coming out. So long she's tried to think about what's best for others, trying to save others, ultimately forgetting herself. This is her pursuit of happiness now, and she's sure it's with Lena.

"Here we are," as Alex opens the light she immediately sees her reflection, her entire outfit changed as before, her true identity show in the mirror, Kara Danvers, and to her side is Lena, smiling at her, her hand intertwined in hers, and she quickly grasps at air, she touches her cheek where mirror Lena has just had her lips on, and at Lena's side is a kid.

"Alex," her hand finds her sister's hand as she said her name, grabbing it straightaway when she got near, a thing she's used to doing when she needs comfort, her rock, someone to steady her and keep her feet on the ground. Because now that she has time to let the image sink in, it feels like flying for the first time in years when she saved Alex from the plane that almost crashed, the first time she flew when she first came to earth, the first time she's ever experienced every good damn thing on this planet.

And she's smiling, her eyes start to water again, her hand clamps against her mouth and she looks at Alex whose smiling back at her who's looking at her with eyes that says, yes, this is how it feels to fall in love. and she can't help it, she's already decided, so she blurts out,

"I think I want to tell her Alex, I want her to know that I love her."
