I walk through the schools hallways like a ninja. Avoiding Liam and Clark. This morning at cheer we had our annual cheer party meeting, and chose the 18 boys that will be put in the hat and drawn for a date. Well, it is hard to understand so here, let me explain it.

Every year, the varsity cheer team, has a party for the team, congratulating everyone for their hard work. But there is a special way that it works. Every girl chooses one of the hottest guys in the school and their name gets put into a drawing. Nobody and can be named twice. And after all the names are chosen, each girl has to pick one name, at random, from the bucket of names, and then after everyone is chosen, you have a chance to trade names with any of the other girls. After all of the trading has been done, that day, during school, every girl has to go up to the guy that she chose, and ask him to the party. Normally when a guy gets asked to anything it is embarrassing, but not in this case. Only the 18 guys and 18 girls on the cheer team are allowed to go to this party, and it is one of the biggest every year, so it is more of an honor, plus it boosts your social status.

I want to disappear. It’s like they knew who I was going to pick and that they made me pick Clark. It wasn’t even funny. My entire cheer team completely shipped me and Clark, so it was somewhat expected that they did this to me. So now, I have to go out of my comfort zone with Clark, and actually talk to him, and invite him to the party.

Also to my surprise, even though he has only been here for a week and a half, Liam was on the list. We have the drawing of the names on the Wednesday before the Friday of the party, and Liam is leaving Saturday to go to New York.

I walk straight my locker and wish I was shorter, because it is pretty easy to pick out the tall blonde in the crowd.

I dig through my locker when all of a sudden a hot breath appears on my neck. “Liam stop.” I say without even thinking about it.

He doesn’t stop so I turn to face him. And I don’t see Liam. I see Clark with a huge smile plastered on his face.

“I heard that you had something to ask me Lois.” He says, backing me up into the locker.

“Well Clark, I don’t need to ask if you already know.” I tell him back sharply.

“Hmm, I guess so.”

“Lois!” a familiar British accent calls to me.
