------------???'s POV------------
A woman with a bite mark on her shoulder stood at her vanity mirror, as she watched it heal on its own.  There was no new venom to course through her veins and cause her agony.  She wasn't writhing in intolerable pain either.
She rolled her sleeve back down and stared at her reflection.  It was the face of Ariadne Serrano.
"Merde!" She cursed, "I should've killed the other one," she punched a shallow hole in the wall, "Where is their Coven!" She exclaimed.
------------Caius's POV-----------
Caius sat at a table reading a book as 3 stacks of others surrounded him.  He sped through the first novel he saw, and hadn't noticed the woman who came in.
"Caius?" She called.
He did a double take before putting down the book, "Hello, mother," he embraced her when she sat.
"You're reading Blood Instinct by Mikael Denholm again.  What is troubling you?" She asked.
"Nothing is troubling me," he muttered.
She sighed, asking whether or not it was because of Dante's incident with the mortal.
Caius didn't reply.
"You did help your friend," she reminded him.
"Helped!  Yet, somehow I'm still unneeded," he sighed, "I haven't even Awakened..I'm not fit to be in the kinship," he sighed.
"Caius," Iona LaRue lifted a hand and turned his face to look at her, "You shouldn't torment yourself so harshly.  You are capable of so many good things, and are destined for even greater."
He didn't bother smiling in response, "Tell me, what is a greater failure?" He raised a brow.
She frowned in return, but kissed him on the forehead anyway.  She got up from the second chair, "Bonne lecture, Caius," and she waved on her way out.
"Merci," he didn't look up from the new book he picked up by the same author called, "Mourning Curse," he internally laughed at the play on words.
