-----------Caius's POV----------
The two kindred walked carefully through the streets. Sunrise was 7:15am and they didn't intend on turning to dust. As they walked a little faster, a Hunter, from seven roofs away, shot a plasma bullet from an M24. The capsule sped at one of the targets, "Caius, look out!" and hit the Vampyress.
She hissed as the capsule blew up, emitting its brightness.
Caius quickly moved her out of the way, "How bad is it?" He checked her burn, which steamed on her ankle.
She flinched in pain. The both of them heard the whistling of another bullet and ran.
-----------Ariadne's POV----------
The Huntress slung her gun over her shoulder and sprinted as fast as she could, closer to the living dead who fled.
"They're slowed down," Ariadne smirked, seeing as she could catch up.
She shot another bullet.
------------Caius's POV-----------
"AH!" Desireé yelled in pain. She bit her knuckle in an attempt to keep herself from crying out anymore.
Caius found a dark corner where they could hide briefly. He helped her down gently, "Shhh. It's okay. You're okay," he took a knee.
Gingerly, he felt along the new wound. The bullet had sunken between two ribs in her side.
"Caius, go. You can't let her find the Coven and I'll only slow you down," she told him.
He leaned down and whispered in her ear, "I'm going to protect you, even if I die trying," he kissed her cheek.
As he got up, he picked her up too. He proceeded to run as fast as he could while carrying her and dodging bullets. Taking a hit to the shoulder didn't slow him down at all. He attempted to shield himself from the rising sun as well, since he and Desireé were getting sunburnt.
