Chapter 5

Both jungkook and y/n made it safely to the neighboring town.They bought a hooded cloak ad soon as they arrived,After all they didn't wanna bring any attention to themselves.A prince and a wanted thief.Oh yeah.It's be the talk of the town.The town was like any other.Quaint little houses.People yelling out prices for the things they sell,like cute little porcelain dolls,shawls,nicknaks and whatnots and beautiful jewelry of all sorts.The two looked around with curious eyes."I know a friend who works at an inn.She'll help us."y/n muttered as she stealthily dodged the people and avoiding the palace guard who were basically surrounding the town like the plague.They managed to cross through the crowded groups of people without getting noticed,and came by and inn by the name of 'Granny's'.A small little inn,with few rooms,Meaning less people.Perfect for A thief and a prince.

y/n opened the Door and inside was a bar like area.A few tables and chairs and a counter with kegs of beer and rum.Behind the counter were two women,one a lot older than the other.The younger girl had long dark raven colored hair swept the the side in a braid,Her eyes were A dark brown.Her build was petite and you could easily mistaken her for a shy weak girl,but y/n knew she wouldn't hesitate to shank you if you angered her.The older woman had a wrinkly aged face,her hair was a faded brown with streaks of gray,her body was hunched.Typical old woman.

"Hey red"Y/n greeted the young girl.The girl whose name is apparently red looked up from what she was doing and saw a cloaked y/n.A smile rose to her face as she left the counter to smother y/n in a bear crushing hug,squealing loudly as she did so."Y/N!!!!ITS BEEN SO LONG!I THOUGHT THE PALACE GUARDS CAUGHT YOU AND TOOK YOU TO THE QUEEN!"Red basically blared out as y/n tried to muster her strength to pry the girl off her ."Quiet down you'll attract the guards."y/n said as she managed to be released.Thankfully no one was inside the inn at the time besides the four of them.Speaking of which,Jungkook cleared his throat in a way to say 'I'm still here '.Y/n looked at jungkook and then back to red."I need a Room for me and Him"She said as she pulled out a small pouch of money from her satchel and handed it to red.Red nodded and walked to the counter,handing the money to her grandmother and pulling out a key from a drawer."Here you go.Same room as last time"She said as she handed the key to y/n.

A couple hours went by.Y/n and jungkook were in their room,was was thankfully a two bed room.The two laid in their bed,a quiet atmosphere was around along with a hint of awkwardness. Y/n boredly twiddle with her dagger as jungkook just stared at the ceiling.To be honest he did want to strike up a conversation,But what would he talk about?He was pretty much interested in her life.How Did she get like this?

Managing to find the bravery to ask her,he sat up in his bed and tuned to face her."Hey um y/n ?"He said, getting a hum as response from the girl."Why are you a thief? "He asked.Not really the way of wording be meant.More like'what happened?''why does the queen want to hunt you down?'

Y/n was silent for a minute before putting her dagger on a table beside her bed and sitting up.
"Well,You know I'm the runaway princess.The queen hated me only because I am the fairest of them all according to her stupid magic mirror,And because my father always paid more attention to me Instead of her.So She killed my father and blamed it on me,I managed to escape the palace,but she wouldn't rest until I was dead,so she sent a huntsman.Thankfully he showed me mercy and let me go,killing a deer instead and take the heart to the queen."She paused."She found out the huntsman lied to her so she executed him.From there shes been sending hundreds of guards to find me."She finished.

"That's why you Live in a cave,because The guards are in every town."Jungkook mummered.
"Yep"She said popping the 'p' at the end .

Jungkook had to admit.He felt pity for her.At first he believed she was just bratty person, turns out her lavish life and family was stripped away from her and now she fends for herself.Hiding.Stealing to feed herself and keep herself clothed.Must be a tough life.

"So!"y/n said,as we wanted to remove the gloomy atmosphere that replaced the awkward one."Why are you so determined to get the ring back?"She asked.She'd be lying is she said she wasn't curious about it.
Jungkook stared at her with."Well it belonged to my mother before she died of sickness.She would always tell me that true love followed the ring.It shows you your soul mate."He said with a chuckle "She would always say how she met my dad because of the ring."

"And do you believe it ?"y/n asked."That true love actually exists and follows the ring?"

Jungkook remained quiet for a moment."Yeah" Was all he said.Y/n sighed and flopped onto her bed once more sighing loudly as we did."Must be why you're engaged to marry that one bratty princess "

Jungkook shrugged."Nah.I don't love her."

"oh?"y/n said.Her attention all on jungkook."Then if she's not your true love who is?"

Jungkook puzzled about the sudden question.He wasn't quite sure.He wasn't even sure what true love is.Much less how it felt.Sure,he had the occasional crush,but that was only when he was little.Now as an adult it wasn't all that easy as he thought.He knows he doesn love hyejin.And he's sure she doesn't love him.
The image of the siren then popped into him mind.He remembered how earlier that day the siren had turned into y/n and how he felt so defenseless against her in that form.

"What does it mean when a siren turns into another person?"He asked y/n, totally ignoring her question about who really was his true love.Not like it really bothered her.
"Well I heard sirens turn into your significant other and future significant other,because they know men don't really wanna hurt the woman he loves.So they use that as easy bait to drown them.Interesting tactic I'll give them that.Anyway goodnight.She said as she turned her back towards him and settled herself in a sleeping position,letting sleep consume her.

"Night"Jungkook muttered as he laid down onto his bed.so sirens turn into your significant other.Is that why the siren magically turned herself into y/n?Turning his head he glance at her.The magic mirror was right.She really is beautiful and fair,it's not like it wasn't that obvious. Her h/l h/c hair bouncing around with every step she took.Her rosy cheeks and lips.Her e/c eyes that sparkled.Her carefree sarcastic attitude which was at time more humorous than annoying.

But alas he's engaged.He'd rather not have an affair with her either way.

Just a random thought popped into his mind.If magic mirrors have the ability to talk will a star grant a wish?Couldn't hurt to try.
Quietly he rose from him bed and walked over to the window in their room.bright star lit up the darkness and showered their light around the sleeping town.Looking up he mentally wished upon a star.He wished he was no longer engaged with hyejin and marry the woman of his choice.He honestly didn't have much expectations for the star.After all its just a child superstition but part of him wanted to believe it could come true .With a chuckle he went back to his bed and shut his eyes.
