👆this is Laurel!!

I could smell morphine. I knew my body was singing in pain but my mind couldn't feel it. It was drifting, even my wolf was floating. All four of her legs spread out with her tongue hanging out the side of her mouth. This was the good stuff. Huh? Garrett never gave us pain killers. Where ever we were it was bright. It hurt my eyes.

Someone was talking, not close but I could make out their words.

"I don't think I can take another confession. The things they did to her, Omega or not if it were an unstable dominant male they were talking about I couldn't gut another word. I don't know how Bash stand's it. She's his mate for f-cks sake and he's listening to these things. They chained her to the floor with silver and the first werewolf to get a sound out of her got to keep her for the night. One bastard admitted to branding her with a white hot iron but she wouldn't scream. He was pissed, like she had offended him. Goddess, did you see the girl. She's like honey and daisy's. There's not a threatening freckle on her." It took me a moment to place Wes, the guy from the basement.

"We didn't have to watch them shoot her full of buckshot." I didn't recognize this man. "Zeek said when the bb gun wasn't enough they used a shot gun. Laurel had to dig pellets out of her collar bone. I nearly lost it. I'll be among the rabid ones Bash has to neutralize if I have to see that again. Parker may look like a lamb but she bites. They had to tranquilize her so Laurel could get all the silver out. Skin and bone she still fractured Alek's wrist and broke one of his fingers with her tiny, feeble hand."

I broke someone's finger? Gemini closed her eyes and curled up next to me. I'd been unconscious when that happened and Gem wasn't going to share that memory with me. She did that sometimes. If something bad happened while I was asleep she would keep it from me and do what she could to protect us. Though this time there was a little bit a guilt coming from her; she wasn't sure if she'd done the right thing.

The familiar itchy sunburn feeling from being in the cage was gone so I wasn't in the basement. I could smell pack and blood. The blood was old but the pack smell was different, cleaner. I couldn't move. I squinted my eyes and tried to figure out where we were. A face I didn't know towered above me.

Surprise filtered through my thoughts when I realized she was a woman. She came in and out of focus but she looked kind. She was the only girl I'd seen since I was brought here. Long brown hair, with a sharp chin, honey colored eyes; she was pretty in an old western kind of way.

She smiled at me when she saw that I was awake. "Hi, Parker. I'm Laurel. I'm a doctor." Wes and the other guy quit talking. They were quiet but I heard them leave.

I tried to speak but something held my jaw closed. She was a wolf, I could smell it. My eyes flashed in fear when I realized my entire body was strapped to something. I couldn't move.

She winced. "I'm a werewolf, just like you but I am a doctor. Bash thought it would be best if the men stayed away while I try to help you. You're going to be fine though your wolf made it very clear that men were not allowed to touch you. It will hurt for a while but you're going to be alright." She relaxed a little when I relaxed.

Looking around me I couldn't see much of anything. I knew we were still at the track. I could see the old support beams along the roof and the exposed pipes. I tried to smell more of my surroundings but my nose wasn't working properly. Laurel disappeared out of sight.

The drugs she'd given me were doing wonders for the pain but it also made it hard to feel what was going on. I could see the red squares they use on medical stretchers on either side of my head. Something was holding my jaw shut but that was a good thing based on the dull ache I could feel. Everything below my stomach was completely numb. I couldn't feel it at all. I couldn't move my right arm, my forearm broken so that was strapped down. I could pick up my left arm and feel around but it was heavy from all the drugs and I couldn't get complete control of the muscle movements.
