A flood of warmth and energy flowed into me. The sound of fighting was annoying until I remembered why I should be worried. My eyes snapped open. Bash was holding me in his lap. His hands misshapen and the bone structure in his face was wolfish but it was mostly human. "Bash?"

"Hey, beautiful. I got here just in time. You did it." His voice was soft but it didn't match the emotions I could feel rolling off him.

I turned my head and saw Alek and Rikkard in wolf form. Alek's peppered fur was puffed up as he faced off with the dazed and weak red-brown wolf that was Bradley. Rikkard's wolf, a yellow cream with white socks and muzzle, was corralling Bradley into the corner. Alek sprinted forward and attacked then jumped back before Bradley could strike. They were doing a good job keeping Bradley distracted.

"Why aren't you over there killing him?"

Bash's jaw was locked but he inhaled my scent through his nose. "You're more important."

I grinned goofily at him. "I know that but I'm fine."

The low growl interrupted me for a moment so I corrected myself. "Ok, not perfect but I'm going to live. Go. Go take care of him. We both know you want to."

"You'll be alright?"

I kissed his cheek. "I'll be fine. I won."

"Yes, you did." He eased me from his lap and settled me deeper on the bed that smelled strongly of Bradley. He must have been sleeping here for a while. "Wes. Stay with her."

Wes nodded and looked down at me. His mouth twitched when I grinned up at him. "Still a little shocky, huh?"

"Yeah, shock is weird."

"Laurel's coming with some meds. She'll be here soon to take a look at those ribs."

"Hmmm. I like Laurel's meds." Actually I hated taking medications. I always denied them unless it was absolutely necessary but it sounded pretty good at the moment.

Wes looked at me surprised before he chuckled. "Me too." I was acting odd though so he stepped closer to me and kept an eye on me. It should have bothered me but my mind was still foggy.

"Zeek is dead." My tone was empty and Wes didn't respond right away.

"I know." Wes looked over at Zeek's body. They had removed the chains and laid him down near the door along with Charlie. He looked peaceful, almost happy.

"He's with Betty now."

We both turned to watch the death of Bradley. Alek and Rikkard kept him cornered preventing any escape as Bash shifted. He didn't pull from me but the rest of the pack sent him their strength to speed up the change. Sebastian was stalking slowly toward Bradley when the last of the shift settled. The shift always made Gemini twitchy but Sebastian didn't even tweak his tail.
