Maya's POV
Once we arrive at the Matthews' home, Riley grabs my hand and rushes me into her room
"Riley, what's wrong? Why are we running?" I ask as she closes her bedroom door
"Are you okay?" She asks, sitting down on the bay window
"I'm always okay, Riles" I say and sit next to her, plastering on my best fake smile
"No Maya, are you really okay?" Riley asks with a serious face
"What do you mean?" I pull down on my sleeve
"What you did at the doctor's office, that was a bit strange. And I just need to know if you are okay. I care about you, Maya. I love you" She tells me
"I love you too. But I still don't understand what I did that was out-of-order in any way" I say, completely understanding what she meant
"The part where you told me and my father to leave the room so you could pull up your sleeve for the doctor" She states
"Oh" I whisper
"I'm not your innocent little Riley anymore. I know what people do when they aren't okay. I also know where a lot of people usually do it, and that they want do not want people to know what they have done to their beautiful skin. That little stunt you pulled at the doctor's office leads me to believe that you do the same as the people I'm talking about" She says, stunning me a little
"Riley I-I don't know how to respond to that" I say truthfully
"Just tell me if you're okay. That's all I need to know" Riley says, seeming to be on the verge of tears
Me on the other hand, the tears are already rolling down my face rapidly as I quietly sob
"I'm not okay, Riles" I cry
Riley pulls me into a hug and lets my tears soak into her floral sweater
"Maya, can I see" Riley asks hesitantly
I slowly lift my arm and roll up the sleeve. Riley gasps and starts crying with me. I roll the other sleeve up as well. Riley studies both of my arms as we cry together
"Oh, Peaches? Why?" Riley asks quietly and hugs me again
"Life hates me. This is my only escape" I explain in a low whisper
"Maya, life may not be perfect, but it doesn't hate you. And even if it did, you are one of the strongest and bravest girls I know. I know you can handle it. But if you do need help, I have got your back. And I always will" Riley gives me a warm smile
"Thank you, Riles. But I am obviously not strong enough for the world. I mean look at me" I gesture towards my petite body
"That's why I will always be here to help you. I know we can take on the world together. I know that because I love you and I will never not love you" She hugs me again
"I love you too. I always will" I tell her
"So please don't hurt yourself anymore. I need you to be around forever. How are we supposed to take on the world together if you aren't here to do it with me?" Riley giggles
"I'll try. I'm gonna need some help though" I smile
"Like I said, I'll always be here" She says supportively
"I appreciate that" I reply
"So, Peaches, let's go take on the world"

Hey. Sorry for the really short chapter. This is sort of just a filler to explain how Riley found out about Maya's secret. It also is to show how much Riley cares for Maya
But things might not work out the way Riley hopes
