Paisley
Looking in his eyes I had no idea what I was going to do. I was panicking on the inside. I did not think that I would be seeing him again so soon and when I do he sees me with my daughters. Now don't misunderstand I love my daughters more than anything but I did not want him to find out like this. I can feel Michelle behind me as if she was waiting for a signal from me or something but luckily Lizzie spoke.
"My soccer game is starting" Lizzie says while trying to pull me towards the soccer field.
At that moment I use that as an excuse to walk away from Lucas and his curious eyes. Of course luck was not on my side because as we started to walk towards the soccer field he was following behind us. I wasn't sure what to say at the moment because I have never been in this kind of situation. Millions of things were running thru my mind right now.
Should I wait until he asks me about them?
Should I lie?
Will telling him later on ruin our chances together?
Chances together?
We have barely spoken to each other and I am already worried about a future that we don't have.
We finally reached the soccer field. Lizzie took her bag from my hand and opened it up to find her shoes. While she busy doing that I decided to set up our chairs and check on Maggie. I look over and see that she and Michelle are going thru the lunch box to find something to drink. After some silence I check to see if Lizzie was on the field but she's not. I look around for her but I hear her voice before I see her.
"Hey mister, could you help me tie my shoe." hearing her voice I look over my shoulder.
Lizzie is standing in front of Lucas holding her cleats in one hand while pulling on his pants legs with the other. He looks at her then around him as if he is waiting for someone to come and save him from the adorable 5 year old. Once he makes eye contact with Lizzie I see his features soften and he kneels to help her.
"Okay ill help but just this once," he says smiling at her.
"Thank you, I can't tie them myself," she says looking a little depressed.
"I'm sure you will get it soon"
"That's what my mommy says. She helps me."
She looks over her shoulder and smiles at me. At that moment Lucas looks up and our eyes meet. Once again I panic. I could not lie to him about the girls now that he's seen them.
"Thank you” Lizzie yells as she runs out to the field with the rest of her team.
I see a figure take a place next to me on the grass. We sit in silence for a while just watching the game. I always loved watching the kids play. The excitement on their faces while running around to kick the ball. I smile to myself as Lizzie runs to kick the ball. She goes for the ball and kicks it but as the ball goes forwards she goes backwards.
“Go Lizzie" Maggie yells while waving at her sister. Lizzie pushed herself off the ground and waves excitedly to her sister.
I hear a few of the other parents smile laugh at the girls enthusiasm. I almost forgot Lucas was next to me until he let out a smooth deep chuckle. I take the time to really get a good look at him.
I look closely at him. Even in regular clothes he’s still unbelievably handsome. He was wearing dark blue jeans and a green short sleeve shirt that hugs his upper body just right. I didn’t notice that I was staring until I felt something hit my forehead and land on my arm. Looking down I see that it’s a dandelion and I see Lucas turned away from me shaking with laughter.
