A Shot at Love

Chapter 4

Paisley

It has been two days since the little incident at the soccer game. The reason why I call it an incident is because I didn't mean for it to happen. Shortly after our embrace and I was able to control my emotions I tried to pull away but he would not let me. I had to pry his hands off of my body. I have home an awkward smile then grabbed the girls and left.

Lizzie has barely spoken to anyone since the soccer game. She only likes speaking to her sister. The only time she speaks to me is breakfast dinner and bedtime. While thinking about the game I forgot that I had to go to work.

I ran into the girl's room to see that Maggie was dressed and she was helping her sister to her shoes. Once Maggie finished helping her sister with her shoes she grabbed their bags, took Lizzies hand and walked out of their room towards the front door. I grabbed my purse then followed behind them. Locking the apartment door we headed downstairs towards the bus stop.

Getting off at the regular stop I took both of the girl's hands and headed towards the dinner. As always David meets us at door whenever I take the girls to work. He takes the girls towards the counter and hands them their breakfast. Heading towards the back I put my things away and began my work day. The day is almost over and I could not be more relieved. After work I decided that I would talk to Lizzie about what happened at the game.

I headed back out to wait tables and to check to see how the girls are doing. I look towards the counter and I only see Maggie coloring. I start to panic and begin looking around frantically to find her. In the process I spot her sitting at the other end of the counter next to a man laughing. I rush over to the counter and pull Lizzie off of the stool.

"I told you not to speak to strangers. Go sit back with your sister," I set her on the ground and she slowly walks back to her sister.

"Nice to know that I am just a stranger," the familiar voice says from behind me. Just like before I feel shivers run down my spine and I know exactly who it is. Turning around I see Lucas smirking and it takes everything in me not to attack him,

"Didn't think that you would forget about me that fast," he smiled waiting for an answer."I didn't forget I just had other things going on at the moment." I looked down at the ground acting as if I found something really interesting. I hear him laugh and feel blood rush. I come up with the excuse that I had to head back to serving but when I turned to walk away I heard Michael say that he was letting me off early. Now with no excuse I was trapped.

"Just to make sure that you don't forget about me how about I take you out to lunch." I was completely shocked. I never thought that he would ask me out. We haven't seen or spoken to each other in a week then all of a sudden he wants to go to lunch. I try to think of an answer but someone beats me to it.

"Mommy can we go to lunch with Lu-Lu," the voice was none other than Lizzie. She was looking up at me with hope in her eyes.

"Baby it would be a grown up lunch" When she hears those words leave my mouth her eyes show pain and heartbreak and they begin to water.

"If you want both you and Maggie can come, he smiles down at Lizzie and to my surprise she hugs him.

She turns and runs back to Maggie to tell her about lunch. I smile seeing how happy she is but she doesn't stop at Maggie. She runs around telling Michael, Michelle, and David that were going to lunch with 'lu-lu'.

I'm happy that she feel better big I don't want her to get too attached to him. I have no idea where this is going. Being caught up in my thoughts I forgot that Lucas was behind me until he put his hand on my shoulder.

"so how about I pick you all up tomorrow around 2" he whispered close to my ear I turned around so I could clearly seen his face.

"I have to work tomorrow," sounding a little too happy that I would not be able to go.

"NO YOU DON'T" Michelle yells from the kitchen. Turning around I see her and David peaking out of the kitchen with wide smiles on their face. I was completely embarrassed that my boss has to help me get a date.

"Sure. sounds great," once he heard my answer he stood up put his jacket on and Saud goodbye but be for he could leave Lizzie attached herself to his leg.

"You won't forget right," she looked up at him with her big brown eyes.

"Of course I won't" he smiled down at her. He left after making sure Lizzie was comfortable at the counter.

Hoping that all this date business was over I went back into the backroom to right myself a not so I didn't forget about tomorrow. While I was back there David made his entrance.

"Goodness gracious I would love to have a piece of that. If you decide you don't want him I'll gladly take him." he smirked at me

As always David says whatever comes to mind. Instead of responding I just rolled my eyes. I picked up my bag and headed back outside to the restaurant to get the girls and head home. Packing up their things they say goodbye to everyone and we head towards the bus stop. The entire ride Lizzie is going on and on about 'Lu-Lu' and lunch.

Once home I put the girls to bed and laid down in my bed thinking of everything I could do to embarrass myself. Since I'm just a natural klutz I realized that anything could go wrong tomorrow.

First thing in the morning I feel my bed moving. Rolling over I hit another person. Opening my eyes I see Maggie lying down with a big smile on her face and her finger on my nose. Smiling at my beautiful little girl I kiss her on the nose ad look over at Lizzie who is jumping up and down on the bed screaming lunch. Seeing what time it was I got up and gave the girls a bath. Like always Maggie dressed very girly while Lizzie loved jeans.

After getting the girls ready I turned on the TV and went to take a shower myself. Afterwards I put my hair in loose curls and pulls on a long maxi dress with sandals. I decided not to wear jewelry because I always end up looking it. Looking at the time I saw that it was close to two. Packed extra clothes for both the girls in case they got dirty and as I finished the door bell rang.

Leaving the room and heading towards the door I see Maggie standing on Lizzie back trying to see out of the peephole. It was cute considering she still had a foot before she could see out the peephole. I took Maggie off her sisters back and stood them up and opened the door to see Lucas in a pair of jeans and a plaid shirt.

Before one word could leave my mouth Maggie and Lizzie grabbed his hands and pull him down the stairs and toward his car. Following after them I get in the front seat while Lucas helps the girls get into the back.

"So since the girls are with us how about Applebee's"

"Who Knew?"

"What"

"That you ate at apple bees"

"Don't let the suits fool you," he said smirking at me.

Once inside an older woman showed us to our booth and that night was one of the best nights I've had in a while.

I know this chapter is short but it's really just a filler things will pick up in the next chapter.
