Nicole's POV.

"Nicole.. can we go to class now?" Alissa asks me. I sigh and nod, "Yeah.." I help her up.. we're in the same gym class... I feel the need to protect Alissa because of her past and what she's been through..

Ever since she almost got beat by Danny freshman year and I prevented that from happening she just stuck with me.

She asked me to help her work on defending herself, which I agreed to. I can't be there all the time, and I learnt that the hard way..

///flash back///
"Hey Nicole, ready for gym?" We have been in the same gym class for three years straight.

"Yeah let's go." We walked into the gym locker room. Alissa told me she felt insecure about her body so she always changed in a stall.. which I didn't mind I was once insecure about myself too.

"Shit.." Alissa cursed, I looked toward the closed door confused. "Alissa are you alright?" I asked as I was walking towards the door, and stepped on something.

"Oh, I see.." I laughed because she dropped her shirt on the floor. I looked and see the last two girls walk out.

"Can you give me my shirt please.." I gave it too her over the door. She opened the door fixing her shirt when I saw it... all the bruises..

I got so mad, but also sad.. who would want to hurt someone like her like that!

She knew I saw and fear flashed in her eyes... "What is that?.." I asked trying to be calm so she stays calm but oh boy it is not working

. "Alissa...Who did that to you?!" She shook her head, as tears fall from her eyes..okay calm down Nicole..

"I -I fell." She looked around nervously, okay... so someone's abusing her! "Okay so someone is abusing you. And are you going to tell me who? So I can...help you?"

She looked at me shocked that I didn't believe her.

"Alissa..." she slid down to the floor.. that's when I stopped being so angry at who ever hurt her,  for a second, and started worrying about my best friend.

"My- my dad is a really bad man... I'm just protecting my little brother Nicole..I'm so so sorry I didn't tell you.. I was scared." She started crying.

I tried to calm her down as best I could, then the bell rang.. singling the end of the school day. " Come on you can stay at my house.. she looked at me and smiled, but it quickly went away..

"But my bro-" I cut her off, "Do you really think I'll let you and your brother stay in that house with that monster?!" I shook my head.

We're in our gym clothes, but  I dont care. As long as her, and her brother where safe and sound then everything will be okay.

"Alex! We're home!" Ever since that day I have been letting Alissa and her brother stay at my house, Alissa knew but we kept it from her brother, he doesn't care anyway he's 7 years old now.

She hasn't talked or seen her dad since a phone call they had, and she yelled at him that, if he doesn't get help that she and Ry are never going home.

Ry is short for Ryan, her brother.

"Hey!" My brother said to his girlfriend, yup that's right, my best friend is dating my brother... Yay!
