dear darling,

i had so many jokes to tell you, but all my friends said they were bad and corny. they said that i would never be able to make you laugh; that broke my heart. it might make me seem like a child, but it did. all i wanted to do was find a joke that would make your dimples come out. one where your eyes would crinkle.

but i knew none and none of my friends were of help. so naturally i used this thing called google. it was a stupid idea and my sisters laughed at me for it, but if it meant seeing a smile on your face, i'd embarrass myself. no biggie.

do you even remember the joke i told you? "what's invisible and smells like carrots?" and you were so shocked. seeing as we were sitting in the school's parking lot, and i had locked both doors, obviously you'd be shocked. and do you remember the punch line? "rabbit fart" you laughed.

your laugh was exactly what i was hoping for, and you kept laughing for two minutes. later i realized you weren't laughing because the joke was funny, it was the fact that it was stupid - that's why you laughed.

your laugh was literally the most gorgeous thing ever.

so that night, when i went home after dropping you home, i googled more jokes. i made an entire list of them on my phone. when i was done, i had three hundred bad jokes to tell you. and everyday i would recite one. hear your laugh, then get on with the day. it was as if i could't live without your laugh.

but now i need to learn to live without it.

reason four why i loved you: your laugh.
