Chapter 20, Rueben???

Jesse's POV

I heard a voice echo through the halls....I didn't recognise it..... They sounded quite young.....

I heard it again.... I Looked around.... Everyone else was still asleep.... Well, I didn't know where Lukas was but....I'm sure he just needed time alone....

It had been about 2 hours since Aiden....

I went to investigate the voice and when. I followed it, it led to the hall of cells....

"H....hello....?" I heard the voice say again, I looked in every cell...

Then I came to one cell, a young child (about 9) looked up at me.... Hands on the bars.... They had this starry glint in their eyes.... They were kinda cute!

"Ummm... Hello m...miss.... You wouldn't m...mind h..helping...me out w...would you?" He asked,

After scanning his body I realized, this was another hybrid!

They had pig ears, pig tail and they had a small, delicate, little pink nose... I could tell already they were peaceful, unlike Lucy....

"Oh! Of course!!" I said as I looked around for the key to the cell, "If you don't mind me asking, what's your name??" I asked politely,

"No problem miss! My names Reuben, but my friends call me R.! So you can call me that!" He replied, his name echoed through my head....

Reuben....

"Are you okay m...miss?" He asked me, snapping me out of my daydream....

"Oh yeah! I'm okay...! I replied, shaking off the feeling of depression.... I've had enough of depression for one day! " I'm Jessica by the way! But you can call me Jess or Jesse! " I said to him,

"Its n...nice to meet you J...Jesse..." He said, he appeared to have a stutter... He extended his hand through the bars to shake my hand, so I grabbed his hand and accepted the handshake.

I found the key and unlocked the cell, Reuben thanked me,

"So, how long had you been in there?" I asked,

"As long as I can remember.... Oh and by the way.... S....sorry about your b....brother...." He replied,

"Wait! How did you know about that?" I asked,

"Hybrids minds are connected, I can see through Lucy's eyes..." He explained to me,

These hybrids have so much more about them! Reuben grabbed my wrist and ran up the stairs, taking me with him....

He took me to the roof and pointed to the sky, at the moon and the thousands of stars with it....

"My mom used t...to tell m...me that for every star in the sky.... Its a child's wish, and w...when the star dies.... The wish comes true..." He told me, I glanced at the midnight sky.... I heard light footsteps behind us,

"That's a great philosophy to live by, you know that?" I heard Lukas ask, I turned around and so did Reuben...

"T...thanks," Reuben smiled, I smiled too as Lukas stepped next to me and sat down, I sat down too and Reuben stepped forward a bit and then sat down....

I glanced at the midnight sky and its purple aura... I closed my eyes....
