The days after that awkward incident flew by fast, but Sam still wouldn't talk to Skylar, throughly embarrassed of all means.
It turned into weeks of him not talking to her, avoiding her in the hallways and her eyes at school. In classes he didn't speak, never once raised his hand like he used to. He would just focus on his work in front of him and other things.
Sam sat on his bed in his room, staring up at the ceiling. He's been ignoring his best friend for weeks, just because he can't deal with his feelings for her. Over the course of this time away, he has cried a total of 7 times and Dean and Cas know all about them. They can hear him crying from the room over, the treacherous sobs breaking the silence.
He couldn't just confess anything to her, in fear of rejection. If he did, he would not only lose his crush, but his bestfriend. But a side cause to his kind of depression, is because Skylar got a boyfriend. His name was Todd Gimbley, and he was the school's swimming team captain.
Sam was much bigger than him, of course, and at first he had wanted to punch his smug face in, but Dean controlled him.
AFTER A GAME
Sam walked to his car, still wearing his football gear, but once he got to it, he shucked the shoulder pads. He was left without a shirt, just in his pants and cleats, when he got turned around and pushed to the car, a small blade against his neck.
Sam stared in shock. Todd was here with a couple swim teamates, forcing a blade to his neck.
Todd grinned deviously. "Hey, Sammy. Want to have a little fun? Heard ya was talkin' to my girl."
Sam stuttered out a breath. Clenching his teeth, he said,"I-I haven't talked to her in w-weeks."
Todd stared at him, disbelieving eyes glaring. "Yeah, sure. But you just said you talked to her. I don't want ya' talkin' to my girl."
Sam struggled out of Todd's grip, making him drop the blade, but not before it cut Sam a few times, which Sam kicked under the car. He faced the four other teenagers, and spoke.
"I haven't talked to Sky in weeks, actually. And you can't say anything about me talking to her, since I've known her since 1st grade. Back off, or I'll pummel you to the ground like I wanted to earlier."
Todd came running at him, and Sam grabbed his outstretched arm, flipping him over his shoulder. He turned and straddled Todd's hips, and started punching his face.
"Do." Punch. "Not." Punch. "Control." Punch. "Her."
He got off of the bloodied teen, standing up with hate in his eyes, and rotated around to the others, finding no one there but shadowy figures sprinting off.
He looked down to Todd on the ground, and grunted out, "Back off." before hopping in his car and leaving.
On the car ride home, he touched his eye gently. It was now red and a little swollen, and the cuts on his face had stopped bleeding. He pondered about driving to Skylar's house, but decided it would be best otherwise.
Let's just say his mother and Dean freaked out when he got home.
SCHOOL THE NEXT DAY
Sam walked into the highschool, capturing everyone's attention. His eye had swelled more over night, depsite his multiple icepacks. Several people came up to him, wondering what was wrong, but he shrugged them off, still not speaking.
He got to the area where all the sophomores hang out, and stood against a wall, eyes searching for Skylar. He didn't want her to see him like this, and after what he did to her boyfriend, she probably hated him.
He didn't see Skylar until after the bell rang, in class, and he kept his hair over his face, turned away from her. When the bell rang, Sam was the first one out the door. His next class was a couple halls away, so he was unlucky when he felt a small hand latch onto his arm.
Sam didn't turn, didn't move a muscle, just kept his head down. The person who grabbed him came up beside him, and tapped on his head. "Hey, crazy head. Why have you been ignoring me?" Skylar. This wasn't going to be easy, wasn't it?
Sam spoke back to her, friendly as always. "I'm sorry, I have just been so b-busy." He could hear Skylar cross her arms.
"Okay, but I asked Dean and Cas what was up. They said you were ignoring me on purpose."
"Traitors..." Sam mumbled.
Skylar laughed. "Well if you would just talk to me, they wouldn't have to give me info on ya." Her eyes trailed down Sam's form, landing on his wrapped knuckles. She brought his hand up to her face.
"What's this?" She asked, holding his hand up gently.
"Oh, you know just working out on the punching bag. Forgot my gloves and got angry." He replied.
Skylar looked at him disbelievingly.
By then the bell was ringing, so she had to hurry. She pulled his body around, and pushed his head up."Sam, what the fuck happened?" She gasped, eyes examining his face.
Sam's eyes widened, and he dashed off down the hallway, leaving Skylar in wonder about what the hell happened to him.
Sam had made it through the rest of the day without Skylar seeing him, dodging behind walls and in groups of people, desperate to not be seen. The final bell had rang, so he was going to walk home, since it was close to his house. Normally he drove, but since the fight, he was grounded from it.
He was just down the sidewalk when Skylar found him again.
"Sam."
Sam kept walking.
"Sam!" Sam stopped in his tracks, because he knew that voice. The tone meant you better listen, or the outcome you would not like.
Skylar caught up with him and through him around. He actually brought his face up, showing to the girl in front of him his red and swollen/cut eye. Just like the first time, her eyes widened, and she gasped again.
She took a step forward, but Sam took a step back. "Sam, what's wrong." She asked, worry overcrowding her thoughts.
Sam blew up. "This," He waved to his face. "Is from your boyfriend, Todd McDoucheFace. He and his little swim team buddies came and tried to jump me. Got a few cuts and punches, but I won. Left him on the damn school's parking lot with a bloodied face. Asshole deserved it."
Skylar's mouth was open in shock. How could Todd do this?
"Why?" Was all she got out.
"Because I was," He made his fingers do quotation marks,"talking to his girl."
"He beat me up because I was too close to you, even though I hadn't talked to you for weeks because of my damn feelings!" He yelled.Sky had tears in her eyes now. She'd seen Sam hurt many times, but never had he been this distraught, at the point where he was crying.
She didn't get enough time to say anything before he was running down the street and into his door.
