Chapter 22: Abuela-zilla

On my graduation day, Zeck and my family were there for me. It made me happy that my husband was there for me. He even gave me a set of jewelry which probably cost a fortune. My parents and kuya were so proud of me. Every thing was going so well in my life. My relationship with my husband has gotten better. What more could I ask for?

"I really love Christina Yang's guts! She's awesome!" I remarked.

We were cuddling in the couch while watching Grey's anatomy. I didn't know why but I got so addicted in this american series.

"Yeah. Interesting character. You're like her in some ways."

I smiled brightly at him. "You think so?"

"Yep," he said popping the 'p' sound.

"But which character do you like the most?" I asked.

"Hmm..." He lazily drew circles on my exposed shoulder. "I think it's Lexi's."

I scoffed. "Lexi's? Ew! She's got the lamest character!" I said with a grossed out face.

He chuckled. "She's very feminine."

"Feminine?" I rolled my eyes. "She's still lame."

There was an aristocratic old lady in the living room. Her presence was very intimidating.

"Abuela?"

My gaze shifted to my husband. He called her 'abuela'? If I was not mistaken, abuela means grand mother.

"Abuela! You're really here! I missed you!"

"No te he visto en siglos. ¡Te extraño!"

I grimaced. I didn't understand what she said. Zeck responded in Spanish. Naputalala na lang ako sa kanya. I was just in awe of him. I found his speaking in Spanish hot. She raised her eyebrow at me. Bigla tuloy akong napalunok. This old lady scares me!

"Uh, Good morning, uh," Gosh! What should I call her?

She turned to Zeck then asked something in Spanish. My husband cleared his throat then he beckoned me to come closer. Lumapit ako at tumabi sa asawa ko. He put his arm around me.

"Abuela, this is my wife, Missy." Then he turned to me. "Meet abuela."

She gasped. "Esposa! Madre dia!"

Zeck sighed. Ramdam ko ang tensiyon niya.

"Abuela, please speak in English. My wife doesn't understand Spanish," he said.

"How could you not tell your abuela that you got married! Am I not important to you? Madre dia! Your parents didn't even tell me either!"

"Abuela, it was so sudden we didn't have enough time to call you," he responded with a grimace. "Lo siento, Abuela."

"You did not even introduce me to this woman before marrying her!" asik niya.
