-Anthony's POV-

"You're seriously ready?" I asked her, filling up with excitement. She and I have been talking about this for a long time. Years even. And although she was the one who told me that there's a way so we can be together, she always was the one to say she's not ready.

Aria nodded her head, "But it's not going to be as easy as just saying we want it and praying hard," She remarked softly, looking away from me, "There's so much more to it..."

"Then tell me what I have to do," I demanded, "I'll do anything."

She heaved a sigh, "Anthony..." She turned back towards me, "There's two ways we can do this. The first one, though I strongly do not want to do it and shouldn't even be telling you this option, is for you to die, so you can join me in the afterlife. You get to stay the age you are now forever. But, remember, you're dead."

"That's not too bad," I remarked.

"I'm not letting you die, Anthony. It'd be stupid of you to do so," She snapped at me. Before I could say anything more, she continued, "Now, because life isn't just a number of years one grows old in, the other option is for you to stay alive, and for me to come back."

"Come back?" I repeated in disbelief.

"Yes. And live on earth. To be with you, so I can actually hold your hand," She slipped her translucent hand beneath mine, retracting almost immediately though. "And so I can be heard and seen by more people than just you and, though it's not really true anymore, Drew."

I looked at her in confusion, "So if we do this second option..."

"If we're going to do this, we're doing the second option," She told me sternly.

"Okay...but how the fuck would that work? You can't just bring back someone from the dead! It's impossible."

"No it's not," She replied with a slight smirk on her face, "It's quite possible. And quite simple. But there's a problem."

"A problem? In bringing back someone from the dead?" I remarked sarcastically, "I would have never thought!"

She glared at me, "We can be from two separate worlds forever, you know. I've got all of time in the world, remember?"

I rolled my eyes, "Fine...what's this problem?"

She bit her lips before answering, "The person who can bring me back...well...she's...she's your fiance's mother."

-Kalel's POV-

I was laying down on the floral-patterned couch, staring at the off-white ceiling of my mother's living room. I had tissues, covered in mascara, all around me: on the couch, on the floor, in my hands. I was a mess. I was not handling this whole Anthony thing very well. My mom walked in and sat down in the matching arm chair adjacent to the couch.

"Kalel, he's just a boy," She attempted to convince me, "You're a beautiful girl, I'm sure you'll find someone new in no time!"

"But I don't want to, Mom!" I cried, sitting up on my elbows so I was looking at her, "Anthony's the only guy I love!"

"What about that boy who dropped you off at your house?" She asked me, "What's his name again...?"

"Do you mean Ian?" I inquired.

"Ahh! Yes! Ian!" She exclaimed, "What about him?"

"Eww," I moaned, lying back down, "No. And anyways, he's already got a girlfriend. Her name's Melanie."

She frowned, "I hate seeing you upset, Kalel. I don't think I've ever seen you this upset since...since you broke up with your boyfriend from high school!"

I sniffled, "Can we talk about something else, please?" I begged, "I don't really want to think about him or Anthony right now..."

My mom leaned back in the chair, "I don't know what to tell you, Kalel."

Just before I could say something, I heard a knock on my mother's front door. She rose to her feet and walked into the foyer to answer it. That's when I thought I heard Anthony's voice greet, "Hey, Mrs. Smith, I was wondering if you could help me with something..."

I rolled off of the couch and peered into the front hall. Shockingly enough, Anthony was standing at my mother's doorstep. My mother glanced back at me, as did Anthony.

"Oh, hey, Kalel..." Anthony remarked uneasily, slipping his hands into his jean pockets, "I wasn't expecting to see you here."

"I didn't expect to see you here either," I retorted quietly.

Nothing was really said between us after that. All three of us just awkwardly stood there. My mother's attention flipped from Anthony to me, Anthony stared at me, and I tried to avoid his gaze by looking down at my feet.

"So..." My mother broke the silence, turning towards Anthony, "What did you need my help with, dear?"

"Don't help him," I growled at her before escaping upstairs to my bedroom, which my mother still fortunately kept the way I left it when I moved in with Anthony. My bedroom was right above the foyer, so I was luckily and unluckily able to hear their conversation.

"I really shouldn't be talking to you, Anthony," My mother's voice emanated from downstairs, "She's my daughter and you're her fiance who left her at the altar."

"Please, Mrs. Smith, I really need your help. You're the only one who can help me," He retorted.

I heard my mother sigh, "What is it that you need me for anyways?"

"I need you to...bring back someone..." Anthony answered my mother's question. I raised my eyebrow in confusion. "You see, there's this...this girl. Her name's Aria. She died a long time ago and...she's a ghost."

A ghost? I thought to myself.

"A ghost?" My mother stated the words I had in my head, "Anthony, I..."

"I know you can do this, Mrs. Smith. She told me you could."

What the...? Since when has my mom had the ability to bring back the dead?

My mother hesitated to answer, but when she did, I was surprised at what she told him, "I haven't done that in years, Anthony. I'm not so sure I can still do it..."

"Please," He begged, "I've wanted this for...for so long. I'll do anything for this to happen, Mrs. Smith."

Don't say yes. Don't say yes. DON'T YOU DARE SAY YES.

"I guess I could try..." My mother told him. I smacked my forehead. How could she do this to me?
