Chapter Two
Recap: “You came.” A familiar voice said from behind me. I turned around to come face to face with the same boy from last night. The smile fell from his face when he saw the bruises and blood that covered my body. “What happened.” He whispered, his face full of concern.
“Just another night.” I said, brushing it off.
“You don’t have to be here, you don’t have to do this. Run away with me.” He said, grabbing my hand.
****FLASHBACK****
Four years ago.
“Why!” my mum sobbed. “Why would you do this to yourself?” She cried, holding the packet of cocaine that I kept hidden in my drawer.
“You wouldn’t understand!” I screamed.
“Are you high now? What are you taking?” Mum said, grabbing my face.
“NOTHING. GET AWAY FROM ME!” I screamed, slamming the door in her face.
“NO CHILD OF MINE DOES DRUGS. YOU’LL END UP ON THE STREETS, YOU’LL RUIN YOUR LIFE!” My mum screamed through the door. She was kind of right, but not doing cocaine would ruin my life even more. It would kill me. I’d tried to get off it but I felt as though I was dying. Ever since that man, Milo, walked up to me on the streets and gave me a months supply I’ve been completely hooked. “Come find me when you need more.” He said before walking off.
“YOU ARE NOT THE CHILD I RAISED.” My mum screamed, bringing me back to reality. Crying, I packed my things into a backpack and climbed out the window. It was obvious my mum hated me now, and now that she knew about the drugs she would do anything to get me off them and I couldn’t risk that. I ran down the street and ran into Maria’s where I first met Milo, silently praying that he would be there. To my relief and to my surprise, he actually was. He was walking out of the coffee shop as I stopped him.
“Please,” I said, out of breath. “I need more.” I begged. Milo smiled at me and pointed to my bag.
“What’s this?” He said, his voice so deep that it was scary.
“I ran away from home.” I explained.
“I have somewhere for you to stay. If you agree to stay with me you can have all the freedom to do whatever you want, and I’ll give you cocaine as often as you like. So long as you agree to be mine and do a few favours for me every once in a while.” He said.
Unsure of what I was getting myself into, I shook his hand and smiled as he took my bag from me and led me to his car.
We later arrived at a huge, dark house that was hidden in a deserted area. He opened the door and inside it was extremely luxurious with red velvet everywhere. “Welcome home. These are your sisters, Sugar, Melody, Candy, Destiny, Angel, Cherry, Roxy and Crystal.” He said, pointing to some beautiful women. Some of them smiled at me while others looked sadly into my eyes.
“You all have such lovely names!” I said.
“You can choose whatever one you like when you live here!” One of them said.
“SPARKLES!” I squealed, excited that I could be called such a fun, cute name.
Milo smiled at me and took my hand. “Come.” He said, leading me up the staircase. This is your room, it is also where you do business so keep it tidy.” He said. I wondered what business I would be given. Fancy that, a 13 year old business woman! “Are you a virgin?” He asked. Uncomfortable, I looked at my feet and fiddled with my thumbs.
