Chapter Four:
Recap: “JANE!” I heard Mike distantly call.
“JANE WAKE UP, PLEASE.” He said again. I opened my eyes to find myself violently shaking and in a seriously cold sweat. “WHAT’S HAPPENING.” Mike yelled. I stood up but collapsed again into Mike’s arm. “Please,” he said, his voice cracking. “Don’t leave me, Jane please what’s happening do I call the ambulance?”
“C-cocaine.” I stuttered. “Withdrawal.”

Mike wrapped a blanket around me and held me close. “Please, take me to the shower.” I asked. Mike assisted me to the bathroom and sat me down on the edge of the bath. I started coughing as I tried to take my shirt off but I couldn’t move my hands, they were shaking too much. Without question Mike slowly lifted off my shirt and pulled off my skirt. I watched him curiously as he tried to not look at my body except for when removing the clothes. His face was full of concern and worry as he turned the bath water on. Staying in my bra and undies I sat in the bath, letting myself become consumed by the warm water.
“Should I call Milo?” Mike asked. I nodded.
“Don’t tell him where you live.” I whispered. “Drop me to my corner and get him to meet us there.” Mike nodded and went back to his room and picked up my phone and dialed for Milo.
“Something’s wrong with her… She’s extremely ill. She needs her hit.” I heard him say. I heard Mike’s footsteps come back towards the bathroom. “We have to leave now. I’m going to pick you up, okay?” Mike said. I nodded and Mike put his arms under my legs and lifted me up. He wrapped a towel around me and hugged me as I was trying to stop my body from shaking. After Mike helped me get changed, he put me in his car, did my seatbelt and then ran back inside to grab my backpack.
We arrived on my corner and Milo was there, waiting impatiently. Mike parked and walked around opening my door for me and helping me get out of the car. Milo walked over and grabbed my elbow. “I’m sorry about this.” He growled angrily. “You don’t have to pay the extra $500.” Milo continued, pulling me away towards his car. He opened my door and threw me in to his car. “Here” he said, passing me a needle. I quickly injected myself and lay my head back in relief.
“You can rest when we get back. You have four hours. I then expect you to go back to your corner and earn me over one grand.” Milo said bluntly.
“But-“
“this is not open for discussion you whore.” Milo spat. Calling me a whore wasn’t that much of an insult to me as that was exactly what I was… It was what I did for a living.
“Sorry.” I mumbled, trying to control my shaking hands. We arrived back at the whorehouse and I ran my way upstairs as fast as I could, trying my best to hide his backpack. I sat down on my bed and pulled the bag onto my lap and pulled out the hoodie he had given me. I held it against my chest and smiled. The memory of him would be my best memory, even if it was the last time I ever saw him. I pulled the jumper over my head and felt warm tears run down my face as I breathed in his familiar scent.
I was later awoken to Milo’s voice yelling my name telling me to get to the corner. I quickly jumped out of bed and pulled on a short red dress and high knee black leather boots. As I ran downstairs I managed to grab an apple from the fruit bowl that was in the middle of a table, purely for decoration. I walked through the suburb and found the shady old alley way that lead to my new corner. Seeing it was completely deserted, I sat on the curb of the road and pulled out a cigarette I had stolen from a customer. I lit it and inhaled deeply, feeling a sense of calm overcome me.
