On the outskirts of a small city called Lyndonville, is a small house with its back facing the woods. This simple house is unique not for its secluded location, but because of the memories in it.
On this particular night, 4 kids were spending the night at their grandmother's house. The living room was filled with the children's overnight bags.
One bag was bright green with pictures of Barbie doing different things. Another bag was a dark shade of blue and was covered with pictures of race cars. One of the bags had dark universe print all over it. The last bag was bright pink with pictures of lip gloss, eye shadow, and other girly stuff on it.
On the floor was little Savanna and Bobby. Bobby was steering his electric train with a remote all around the room. Savanna was changing her Barbie dolls outfit from a bikini to an ice blue dress with a see through blue cape that dragged the ground behind her. On the small couch were the elder kids, Trevor and Sarah both texting on their cell phones.
Their grandmother suddenly walked into the room. She was wearing an old satin dress with a lace collar. Her hair was short and gray with ringlet curls. She walked across the room and sat down in her old arm chair.
"Who wants to hear a story?" she asked gazing at her grandchildren.
"We're too old for bedtime stories" Trevor moaned without looking up from his phone.
"You're never too old for a story" his grandmother explained.
"I'm 17, Trevor's 15, Bobby's 10, Savanna's 6" Sarah pointed out being sassy "I think we can sleep without a story."
"You never outgrow a good Disney story" the old lady exclaimed.
"Great" Trevor said sarcastically while waving his phone around "not only is it a bedtime story, but it's a Disney story."
"Seriously Grams," Sarah exclaimed rolling her eyes, "you sound just like mom."
"Where do you think she got it from" the old lady winked. "So who wants to hear a story?" she asked again.
"I do!!" Bobby and Sarah screamed rushing over to get their pillow pets. Bobby's was a dinosaur and Savanna's was a unicorn.
"Indoor voices" the grandmother reminded them.
"Sorry" they both replied quietly.
"It's alright" the Grandma replied noticing Sarah and Trevor sneaking into the kitchen "where do you think you're going?"
"Oh we were just..." Sarah tried to explain.
"Sit your fannies back on that couch" the Grandma demanded "you might learn something."
"Okay" they both replied flopping themselves on the old couch.
"What's the story about, Grandma?" Savannah asked in her sweet, tiny voice.
"It's about an incident that happened a long time ago" her grandmother explained pointing to the wall that led to Main Street "in this very town."
"Wow" Savanna exclaimed.
"Oooohhh" Trevor said laughing. The old woman frowned at him. He instantly stopped.
She smiled again. "Once upon a time..."
