Like any old day, the Disney stars were enjoying life.

Kovu and Kiara were exploring new places in the savannas. Tarzan was teaching Mowgoli how to surf on tree limbs. The mermaids in Neverland were giving Ariel and her half human daughter, Melody make-overs. Elsa was creating a mini blizzard over Paradise Lake for a day of ice skating with Anna, Kristoff, Sven, along with many other Disney princes and princesses. Aladdin and Jasmine were on a romantic picnic with Lumiére as the entertainment.

Life was absolutely perfect.

Suddenly Tinker Bell burst out of the door to Crystal Cavern.

She was holding a small folded piece of paper with Mickey's named written on the front. She flew around frantically until she spotted Mickey, fishing with Donald and Goofy. She quickly flew past the few trees and over to them.

"Ah" sighed Donald holding his fishing pole with his feet so he could lay back "this is the life."

"You said it Donald" Mickey replied laughing. Tink began to ring her little bell, alarmingly.

"Well, Hi Tinker Bell" Mickey exclaimed as Tinker Bell gave Mickey the note. Mickey's facial expression completely changed.

"I'll meet up with you guys later" Mickey said alarmed as Tinker Bell sprinkled Pixie Dust over him. Mickey and Tinker Bell flew back to Crystal Cavern. Lewis Robinson was waiting at the door.

"I got the message" exclaiming Mickey as he landed "what's up".

"Trouble" replied Lewis leading Mickey inside. "The Disney crystal seems to be going haywire." Inside the cavern was a huge glowing crystal shaped like Mickey's hat which was the single light source for the entire room which was built around the crystal. It glowed so bright and so constant, that the room didn't even need to flip on the lights, till now. The Disney crystal's light was flickering on and off for the first time in forever.

"I'm not sure what solution there is but..." Lewis exclaimed looking down at his records on his clipboard. "I believe that we are left with no choice but to..."

"The Quest" said a faint voice from the other side of the balcony. It was Wilbur, dressed in a lab coat similar to his father's. No sooner than the words left his lips, did everyone in the room gasp.

Wilbur joined his dad as the gasps turned to murmurs.

Lewis put his arm around him and sighed "it's the only choice we have, Mickey."

"We have no choice then" Mickey said walking over to one of the panels on the back wall. It was covered with assorted buttons and switches, but only one switch had a plastic covering over it.

Mickey Mouse flipped the cover up and slammed the switch down. Suddenly a hole in the ceiling of the cavern opened up. The crystal let off bright, rippled rays of light going up out of the cavern and then into all directions. It was a symbol for everyone to meet in Paradise Pavilion.

From far and wide came the Disney icons, quickly piling into the pavilion. Everyone was chatting to their friends making it really noisy in the somewhat crowded space. Soon enough Mickey came onto the stage up front. When the chatter began to die Mickey spoke.

"Ha-ha hi everyone" he said waving to the audience.

"Hi Mickey" chanted the crowd.

"Many of you don't know why I summoned you all together" Mickey continued "so I'll tell you. The crystal's magic is fading." Everyone gasped in horror then broke out into fearful shouts.

"As you all know" Mickey Mouse continued "The Disney crystal's glow comes from the children in the human world. If the light is fading then our enemies, are beginning to take effect on the children." Nearly everyone in the pavilion had a look of hatred on their face as they thought about their own enemies.

"There is only one possible solution to the issue" Mickey pointed out "it's the one thing that we swore never to do unless absolutely necessary. But now it's time."

Mickey glared around the audience "The Disney Quest."

Murmurs began to rise throughout the audience as Minnie Mouse handed Mickey a formal piece of paper.

"According to law that we all agreed on in the beginning" Mickey stated "we must vote to decide which 6 of us will have the honor of journeying through the woods." Mickey acknowledged to the trees far behind him "And into the human world to battle our enemies and restore the magic."

Mickey turned to Minnie. "Will you and Daisy hand out the paper?"

"Sure Mickey" Minnie responded joyfully.

Soon everyone was busy scribbling down a name on their pieces of paper. No sooner than they were handed out volunteers were helping Mickey count up the votes.

Finally after some time, Mickey returned to the stage. "Your votes are in" Mickey pronounced "it's time to see who will be going on 'The Disney Quest.'"

"Simba" Mickey announced "The Lion King." Simba hugged his friends and family and proudly walking up onto the stage next to the mouse. The crowd roared in applause.

"Elsa" Mickey announced "queen of Arendelle." In the center of the pavilion sat Elsa grinning and a bit surprised. She hugged Anna and took her spot next to Simba. The audience burst into applause.

"Peter Pan" Mickey announced "protector of Neverland." "Cock-a-doodle-doo" cried Peter flying from the way back and then landing on the stage. Again the audience broke out into clapping.

"Melody" Mickey Mouse announced "the half-mermaid princess." Melody quickly turned and hugged her proud mother and father and made her way to the stage next to Peter. When she took her place, Peter Pan glanced at her and smiled as the audience gave her a round of applause. Melody could feel herself blushing.

"Jack Sparrow" Mickey announced. Jack Sparrow just frowned. "Sorry" Mickey replied "Captain Jack Sparrow." "I leave Mrs. Turner in charge" Jack proclaimed as Will gave him a 'really' look. "And I suppose the Mr. too" Sparrow added grinning as he made his way to the stage. The audience clapped and then laughed when Jack stumbled on one of the steps going up to the stage.

"Finally" Mickey concluded "Bolt, the super dog." Bolt gave Penny big old doggy kiss and an "I'll be back soon" as assurance. Bolt used his super speed to burst to the front. The crowd applauded once more.

"I'm going to warn you all" Lewis exclaimed walking from behind the back curtain "We have no idea how many villains are involved. By measuring the amount of light still coming from the crystal we feel that it is only a few. But just in case..."

Lewis pulled out a small metal box with a big red button on it. "Push that button and it will send a special distress signal. When we see it, we will send reinforcements to your aid." "But remember" Lewis reminded them "only push this when absolutely necessary. And remember the villains will do anything to stop you."

"We will" Jack assured him putting the invention in his inside pocket "many thanks."

Lewis nodded and returned to the audience.

"You best be off" Mickey said hurrying them off "there's no time to lose."

The 6 heroes and heroines burst out the back of the pavilion and toward the forest. They ran together in such a way that it made them look like a team. The rest of the Disney icons followed them out the pavilion shouting "good luck" and "save the magic" and other stuff like that.

They stood there chanting until they could no longer see their brave loved ones. Some were filled with pride. Some were filled with fear. But all of them were filled with hope.
