The UN gathered, and argued in panic.
"They landed everywhere!"
"What are they?"
"The hooded ones. Some have taken to calling them phantoms,"
"They call themselves 'Speakers of Horizon', whatever that means,"
"What they are isn't what matters, what matters is what they want and why they are here,"
"I think the first words they ever uttered to us, the first words to ever be shared between humans and extraterrestrials, answered your question all ready,"
"...you no longer rule this planet,"
"But that doesn't answer anything. That doesn't tell us their goal,"
"It doesn't matter, we fight, but how?"
The crowd was silent for a while, then France made a quiet response heard around the world,
"We use nuclear bombs against their ships..."America agreed to launch the bomb at the ship hovering above the middle of the Atlantic. The aliens had yet to attack. In fact, the Speakers' proclamation are all the aliens had ever even interacted with humans. However, their proclamation alone was enough for the UN to agree to war. The meeting ended and as nations began to leave, the door slammed shut on its own. One of the hooded figures appeared in the center of the room, and a guard opened fire. The alien simply warped back and forth about a foot to narrowly dodge the projectiles. It then extended its long and slender arm and motioned downward. The guard's rifle slammed to the ground, and when he attempted to pick it up, he couldn't.
"Most unwise," the creature said, "You did not think one of us would listen to these little meetings? Your missiles would never make it past our forcefields, by the way. This cannot go unpunished, it simply cannot," the creature turned to France's representative, "You motioned for the attack. I, Läkvör, hereby condemn Paris,"
The representative fell to his knees and screamed,
"Please, no! Do not harm us! We are scared, you made a threatening assertion when you arrived, could you not expect us to resist?"
The alien vanished, the guard was able to pick up his weapon, and the doors opened.
