Four years ago today, Ronald Weasley was an eager first year waiting in line to be sorted into his Hogwarts house. Standing in line behind him was Persephone Wonderweiss, looking almost lackadaisical, as if the enchanted castle couldn't impress her.

She was a small girl with wide green eyes, dark brown curls that sat upon her shoulders, and naturally full pouted pink lips. She was the nicest looking girl that Ron had ever seen in his eleven years of life.

He had to work up so much courage just to turn around and introduce himself.

"H-hello, I'm Ron Weasley", he mumbled staring into her green irises.

She stared him down, taking in his messy ginger hair and hand-me-down robes. Her gaze was hard but not judgmental, as she drank in his appearance. Nevertheless, Ron still felt weird about the way she looks at him.

The girl simply responded with, 'Hi', and returned her attention to the sorting ceremony. He didn't even get a name.

When his name was called to be sorted, Ron walked in front of the student body to the wooden stool, only casting a single glance back to the girl. As a professor rested the ragged enchanted hat on his head, he wasn't surprised to hear the hat let out a mighty 'GRYFFINDOR!'. All the previous Weasleys had been in Gryffindor also.

The Gryffindor table let out a thunderous applause as he took his seat next to his older brothers. Ron bounced his knee anxiously and waited to hear her name to be called.

"Persephone Wonderweiss"

Her name was Persephone. How nice.

'She's surely a Hufflepuff', he thought.

Now, imagine his surprise when she sat on the stool, the enchanted hat is placed on her head and barely seconds later was sorted into Slytherin.

"Bloody hell!"

Now three years older, Ronald Weasley has yet to make his move, fearing that she might be aligned with the dark arts.

He sits at his house table half listening to the sorting hat's song. His eyes linger on Persephone before glancing up to see the headmaster speaking but then somehow finding their way back to her. He had missed the whole sorting ceremony in what felt like 3 seconds. Ron could only faintly hear his friend, Harry speaking to him, with most of his attention being on Persephone.

Persephone looked as unenthusiastic as usual. He could see her holding a conversation with her sister Angelica. Her chin cupped in her palm, disenchanted with the conversation. Her eyes are casually scanning the people around her, only pausing when Ron makes accidental eye contact.

Ron averted his eyes as his face flushed. Even though he wasn't looking, he could feel her stare burning into him, making his ears tint pink.

"What the hell is wrong with you, Weasley?", demanded Cormac McLaggen, a fellow Gryffindor whom happened to be sitting in his line of sight to Persephone. McLaggen was in the year above Ron and had a habit of thinking himself better than those around him. It didn't help that he was admittedly handsome as girls would fawn over his features and a decent quittich player. But what are golden curls and green eyes if he's still giant tosser?

"What are you going on about, McLaggen?", Ron asked, rolling his eyes and preparing to be annoyed. Dumbledor's speech is completely ignored and disregarded.

McLaggen smirked and leaned in closer to Ron, "Have you got some type of crush on me?"

Ron scrunched up his face in horror at the wild accusation.

"You've been staring at him all night, mate", one of McLaggen's friends says. He makes kissy faces in Ron's direction. They laugh together at Ron's expense.

"Like bloody hell! I wasn't looking at your ugly mug, McLaggen", Ron claims loudly catching the attention of his best friend, Harry Potter whom watches on in baited interest.

"Don't flatter yourself, Weasley", McLaggen sneered, "Nobody in their right mind would want attention from someone of your status"

"Sod off, then!"

...

Left steaming from his prior conversation, Ron was too hesitant to sneak another peek at Persephone. Luckily, he tuned into Dumbledore's speech to hear him announce that Hogwarts was selected to host the TriWizard Tournament.

This year was going to be eventful.
