Persephone Wonderweiss didn't go to the Yule ball with Dion Foxx or Viktor Krum.

She went to the Yule Ball in a pretty dress with pretty makeup and no date.

Alone.

Or at least that's what Ron wanted to believe.

Because as he sat next to his last minute date- Padma Patil, a perfectly nice girl- Ron couldn't help but wish that Persephone had gone alone.

Instead he watched as she laughed all night long, the most he had ever witnessed her smile. She'd danced with her date for as long as he could stand, and when he got tired, she danced with almost anyone else that asked or by herself.

Sitting a few paces from him and Padma was Persephone's date, a drink in hand and a smile on his face, recovering from shouts of non stop partying.

"This ball is really something isn't it, Harry? Ron? Is that Hermione with Viktor Krum?" Asked little Collin Creevey, Persephone's date to the Yule Ball.

"Yeah, it sure is" responded Harry not nearly as happy as Collin. Ron just grunts, perfering to keep his eyes on the golden clad girl he's been watch for a majority of the night.

Ron has kept track of everyone that has asked to dance with Persephone, wondering if he himself should take a chance to ask for a dance. The first person to ask after Collin sat down was Blaise Zambini who had in fact asked Sophie Roper as his date to the ball. Then Bartholomew Allen and after that was Marcus Flint. Lee, Fred and George had danced with her all at the same time intending to make Ron jealous.

It worked.

Even Oliver Wood and Hermione- who had actually attended the ball with Viktor Krum- had a chance to dance with her.

Holding hands with her now was her sister, Angelica as they rocked together off beat looking more than happy. The black fabric of her Angelica's dress contrasted greatly with the shimmer gold tulle that flowed down Persephone's body. She truly shined that night, and Ron couldn't help but notice since the moment she walked through the doors. Her normally curly hair flowing down her back in the softest of waves and a long shimmer golden tulle dress that reflected golden specks of light with her every movement. Persephone, no matter her namesake, was truly an angel.

As the song came to an end, Angelica strode off toward her own date, a seventh year Slytherin Ron didn't know the name of. He was sitting next to Dion The Foxx and who appeared to be with a 6th year Hufflepuff girl. He didn't ask Persephone either as it turns out. Ron briefly wondered if his date knew about their relationship. Was it even true?

"Fred and George have lied before. Maybe they were lying about this too", Ron says trying to convince himself.

"Maybe. Does it matter?", Harry asked taking his eyes off of Cho Chang long enough to glance toward Persephone.
