'Miss. Eifad Rafi Hooda.' Shad asked a young girl behind the reception. She nodded and checked her computer screen and then turned to look at Shad again 'Doctor will see you in five minutes.' she said and Shad nodded.

Eifad sat in the waiting room, there are so many patients. Some teens, some young adults, some older patients. Eifad felt sick like she too is a patient. She shook her head and took a magazine from a table in front of her to divert her mind. The magazine was a sport magazine, but Eifad doesn't mind, anything to kill time.

Shad came and sat beside her. He informed her that Doctor will see her in five minutes.

'Shad, I am not liking this. Let us go.' Eifad said, she almost stood up but Shad held her hand.

'Eifad, you promised.' Shad said sounding hurt. Eifad thought for few seconds before giving up. She sat on her seat. They sat for few more minutes before they were called in.

The room was dimly lit, with inspirational and motivational quotes stuck on the walls. The Doctor's table had powerful lamp, illuminating the desk. A middle-aged woman sat at the table reading some reports. She looked up as they entered. She removed her glasses and greeted them. Eifad and Shad sat opposite her.

'I am Shad Siddiqui and she is my friend...I mean girlfriend, Eifad Rafi Hooda.' Shad introduced with a smile. Doctor looked at them, and then at Eifad.

'Only you stay (she turned to Shad) you may leave.' She said. Shad nodded but as he was about to get up, Eifad held his hand. He looked at her, she shook her head asking him to not go. Shad held her hand and gently moved his hand.

'Eifad, you will be fine. I am just out.' He said and smiled.

Dr. Malthi observed them carefully. Eifad reluctantly lets go of his hand. Shad coaxed her and managed to leave. Eifad bit her lower-lip. She is a tough business woman and have had handled every type of people in her life, then why is she feeling so nervous now? Malthi looked at her, she extended her hand and placed it over Eifad.

'Relax, Miss Hooda.' She said.

Shad waited patiently outside the cabin. He paced out in the corridor, drank two cups of water from the cooler. He is nervous, he wished Rhea was here. He sighed and continued pacing. Few minutes later, he sat on one of the chairs.

Some ten minutes later, the door opened and Eifad came out. Malthi called in Shad. He asked Eifad to wait for him while he went in.

'Yes, Doctor?' Shad asked sitting opposite Malthi. She sighed and removed her glasses.

'I have given her the list of some tests, MRI and CT scans. It will help with the sessions. Also, I noticed that she is too close to you.' she said

Shad nodded 'We have been friends since we were five.'

Malthi nodded 'I see the problem. Eifad is too dependent of you and then on the heavy dose medicines.' Malthi said. When Shad continued to look confused Malthi explained 'I asked her if she had taken medicines. She said about Anti-depressant and sleeping pills. I was amazed. They were such high doses. It must have been causing side-effects, hallucinations, and all. Then there is you. She got so dependent and habitual of you. We have to part you and the medicines from her. This is what I can say for now, rest after the reports come.'

Shad nodded, agreeing to everything she said.

***************

'Shad, I am not doing all these tests.' Eifad said irritated. Shad had just come out from the cabin. Shad smiled and placed his arm around her shoulder 'Eifad, relax. Doctor said there is nothing wrong. This is just a formality.' He said calmly. Eifad moved his arm shaking her head.

'Even though I run a hospital I can't understand you doctors.' She said and walked away. Shad watched her retreating back and smiled 'you will be fine soon, Eifad. I promise.' He promised himself.

To cheer her, Shad took Eifad to have some golgappas which she refused stating she doesn't have street food. Shad rolled his eyes and held her arm dragging her towards a stall.

'Nothing will happen, my desi Angrez.' Shad joked. Eifad smiled, but her smile changed into a scowl when she noticed the man make a golgappas for her. It looked very unhygienic. She looked on with disgust. Shad chuckled as she popped one golgappas in her mouth and make a disgusted expression.

****************

After that she looked little lighter and so Shad managed to have her tests done, they said the reports will come by evening. Shad and Eifad were careful to not have tests done in Eifad's hospital.

Eifad was nervous about the results, but Shad distracted her by taking her to nearby mall. They didn't shop, simply window shopped, had a large pizza, again Eifad had initially refused stating she doesn't have junk food.

'You are no fun, Eifu.' Shad said pinching her cheek. Eifad jerked his hand and glared at him.

*****************

By evening the results came. 'See what is in it.' Eifad said nervously. Shad shook his head

'We are no expert in this. Malthi will see.' Shad said. He took the results and asked Eifad to relax. The first thing he did is call Rhea. Even though he acted cool and casual in front of Eifad, but he was panicking as well. He needed to calm himself and so he called up Rhea. She picked up the phone in two rings itself.

Rhea heard him out and said 'Whatever it is, I am sure Eifad's problem's solution is here. She has taken one more step closer to the treatment.'

Shad is relieved. The way Rhea said it, it sounded positive and less scary.

That night, Eifad nor Shad slept. While Shad kept reminding himself that everything that will happen will happen for the best and that whatever is in the report it will only take Eifad one step closer towards good health. Eifad kept fearing the worst. She feared if her results are worse and Shad will think she is mental and leaves her. She shook with fear. She washed her face and continued to pace in her room. Eventually, she slept off kneeling at the edge of the bed.
