It was a chilly day in November. Y/N's boots clacked loudly against the ground. Wind whipped her (H/L) hair around. It also made her cold, so she put her hands in the pockets of her coat. She felt one of her shoelaces become untied, so she looked down, and bent over.

Unfortunately, Y/N was not as graceful as she wished she were, so her open bag fell. Papers fluttered out, and in desperate attempt, she chased after them. Sadly, there were way too many papers, so she looked like a maniac.

"Bloody hell, this is hard," she muttered, glaring at the few strangers who casted her strange glances.

A hand tapped her on the shoulder, startling her.

"What do you want?" Y/N spat.

"I—I'm sorry, do you need some help, perhaps?" a soft, shy voice asked.

She turned to see one of the Hogwarts boys standing there. She could only recall that he was a Hufflepuff, and his name began with a 'N'. Was it Nick? Neil? Nathaniel?

In Y/N's confusion, she didn't notice that he had already gathered up all of her papers.

"Here," he said softly, handing her them.

"Why do you think I need help?" Y/N sneered, glaring at him.

He ignored her question, and instead, asked, "You're that pretty (Y/H/H) girl, right? Y/N L/N?"

Pretty. He had called her pretty. She gaped at him, and he blushed, saying, "S—sorry, but aren't you from Hogwarts?"

"Yeah, you are too, right?"

"Mmm-hmm. I'm Newt, Newt Scamander."

Y/N swore that she heard the name before, and suddenly, it came to her. "Oh, the boy that got expelled?"

"Yeah. And you got expelled, too, right? And, er, may I ask, for what reason?"

Y/N smiled sadly, and whispered, "My—my friend Mark wanted me to show him some of the beasts in the Forbidden Forest, and—let's just say, things didn't work the way I hoped it would, and he nearly got expelled. But I took the blame."

Newt looked at her with a sympathetic glance, and said softly, "I'm sorry."

"Why? It's not even your fault," she shrugged.

He was silent for a few moments, and told her, "I got expelled for a similar reason. My friend Leta did a dangerous experiment on someone, and instead of seeing her go, I told them that it was my fault."

"Seems like we're pretty similar," Y/N laughed dryly.

Newt was unsure of whether to laugh or to keep silent. He decided to go with the latter.

Seeing that he was silent, she asked, "Do you have anywhere to stay?"

He shook his head, looking down, embarrassed.

"Geez, how have you been surviving all this time?" Y/N exclaimed, and added, "But I know a very good friend who I've been living with."

"Really?"
