Restart, Reset

Chapter 4

I fell asleep on the couch.
Did you know that couches were so comfy?
But I was awaken quite rudely. Here's how it went
"Brantley, Wake up" Winter stated. she bluntley said, nudging my shoulder.
I awoke with a groan, turning and barely opening my eyes.
"Thank God" she stated "its five forty-five, we have literally twenty minutes till the bus is supposed to be here" she paused "And by here i mean the end of the drive way a half mile a away".
I sat up  and threw the blanket to the side, then stretched. I looked out the window, still pitch black "Do you guys always wake up before dawn?"
"No, summer time it would be lucky, but by now, you've only got like fifteen minutes 'till dawn" Winter snarked.
I got up and dragged myself to the bathroom. As soon as i got out i was met with the pile of winter gear and my backpack, perched on top of the mound was a note and a granola bar. The Note read: Get your a** outside and catch up to me, or your gonna be late!  - Winter. I threw on the coat and ran out the door. 
I was met by a wall of cold air, at least twenty degrees. I looked up, i saw the human sized figure walking down the driveway. 
"Hurry your butt up Brantly, we got about 5 minutes to make it down the drive way!" She shouted at me walking backwards.
I didnt say anything and started running. It was tough, the snow combined with the heavier backpack started taking a toll on me. But i cought up with Winter; who had kept a good pace.
"Why ya breathin so hard?, its only 8 inches of pretty hard snow."
"Im glad i didnt come in November  or somthing like that" i stated under heavy breathing.
"Thats just prolongin the inevitable"
We arrived at the end of the driveway a few minutes later. I think that was the quickest half mile ive ever done.
Winter looked over, I saw lights of a school bus reflect off her eyes. "Good we made it"
Five seconds later i felt a whoosh of cold air and the sound and smell of a diesel engine fly by us.
Winter swore the proceded to take out a flashlight and run towards the bus
"Not again" i sighed as i started to run after winter who was attempting to shine the flashlight  at the bus to get them to stop.
And some how, i dont know how, the bus stoped.  The bad part the bus stoped three-hundred yards down the road.
We Eventually made it to the halted bus. And got on.
"Sorry about that, its my first day" A heavily accented Canadian voice came from the guy in the drivers seat.
"Oh its fine" winter said. "Ill get some reflective stakes and put em in the ground when i get home.
The driver closed the door and winter and i made it to a middle seat on the bus, right behind the heater.
I sat down across her.
"Oh nonono, you cant sit there" winter stated "get over here" she ordered me to sit next to her.
"Why?" i asked while moving across the Isle.
"This bus gets packed, and you gotta stay close to me"
"Alright then." I complied.

I felt winters head slump over on my shoulder.
"Hey," No answer
I must of repeated the same thing 3 times, but no answer. Dead asleep.

I fell asleep. We were almost to school when we were rudely awaken.
A bright flash awoke me, and Winter. But it wasnt just a flashlight.
It was some jerk takin a picture of us. And i have to admit, if i didn't  know us. I would of thought we were two people dating.
I kept to myself, but Winter swore a bit. Just a bit.  If the sentace had to be put in to subtitles it would look a tad like this
"What the F***,a**hole delete thet sh*t now."
See just a little bit.
"Whos that, cold heart, your boyfriend?" the girl mocked
I blushed and held up a nice bird to the girl.
"None of your damned business" I shouted.
Some of the other girls around us giggled. But most kept quiet
The girl swore at me.
The bus stopped I looked outside the window, School.
And the next thing I know I'm in the halls of a rather small school.
"Why did she call you coldheart?" I asked whispering.
"My names Winter, Brantley, and shes the girl in school that makes fun of people like me"
"Hey I see Winters'  got a boyfriend now." Some kid said
  Her and I found a way to give birds to him too.
"Thats that chicks boyfriend" she said "just as much of a jerk as she is"
"Youd figure he would be worse." I stated
"Nope girls round here 've gotta be tough as nails shes actually the dominant one, he's all talk and nothin to show from it." Winter corrected me.
  We continued walking. And soon Winter and I ended up at the far edge of the school.
. "I already checked, your lockers' right next to mine."Winter stared as i dug through my pockets looking for the sheet of paper with all my info.
  "Oh, okay then" i complied still lookimg for the paper, i found it and begun to open the locker.

   "This is chaos" i say as we enter first hour. Choir. I could swear half the school is in there.
   "It is, im tacked on the end, just sit by me until he assigns you a seat."
    We made our way to her seat. And pulled one of the extra chairs up next to hers
    "Ladies and gentlemen, please stand for the pledge" a voice blarred from the loudspeaker.
     I stood and placed my hand on my heart.
      Then the chorus of voices  erupted including Winter, who recited it proudly, as if she was pleading it out to god.
     I on the other hand. Didnt know a single word.
     And she noticed that very quickly.
