Carl's pov
"Carl?.... they didn't hurt me. But I heard them kick you. Or, at least I think it was you. Are you okay?" Enid asked.
"Yeah, it was me. I'm fine" I answered her.
I began to feel around me the best that I could to see if there was anything I could use to get the sack off my head, and then Enid's. I stretched my legs out and felt some boxes.
I lifted the boxes with my feet and leaned them up against the side of the truck. I put the edge of the sack that was hanging off my head, beside the box and waited to hit a bump. Once we finally did, the boxes fell back over and landed on the sack.
I pulled my head out to reveal to myself a dark back of a truck. Although it was dark, I was able to see a bunch of stacks of boxes. I searched for something sharp to cut the rope that was wrapped around my hands and were starting to give me a burn.
Luckily, I managed to open a box from behind me and I saw a few knives.
I balanced one between two boxes and stood in front of it with my back to the boxes and my hands moving up and down, cutting the rope. Eventually, I was free.
I looked ahead of me, scanning the truck. I was able to see my hat a few feet in front of me and to the left a little bit. The Saviors must have thrown it in after me. I picked it up and placed it on my head. I looked at Enid who had her head facing downward.
"Enid, I got the sack off my head and cut the rope off my hands!" I informed her.
"Really?!" Enid said excitedly.
"Well, can you help me?""Yeah, of course." I responded.
I walked over and took the sack off of Enid's head and ordered her to stand up.
I took the knife that was still balanced between two boxes and I got behind Enid, cutting the rope off her hands.
She grabbed her wrist and thanked me. I nodded in response.
I rummaged through the boxes in the truck, looking for guns. I decided that now would be a good time to ask her why she left, what her real excuse was.
"So... why did you really leave?"
"I told you. I just couldn't lose anybody else, and I was too much trouble." She began to look through boxes with me.
"Or.....well... I guess that I just didn't want to lose Maggie... or you."
I froze, and a small smile grew on my face. I guess I kind of made it obvious, though, because Enid froze too.
"Well, nothing's gonna happen to Maggie... or me." I responded.
"You don't kno-" she began to speak but I cut her off.
"We're strong, and nothing's gonna happen to us if I can help it." I started looking through boxes again. "And anyway, what about Ron?"
Enid chuckled. "What about him?"
"Well, don't you not wanna lose him either? He's your boyfriend." It killed me to say the -b word, but I don't know why. Enid and I are best friends, and nothing more.
"Yeah but you're my best friend, and friendship is ought to last longer than a teenage relationship." She said.
"You don't know that" I stated.
"It's what I believe. Ah, here we go!" Enid pulled out a box and showed me the inside.
There were multiple different kinds of guns. "Nice find, E!" She grinned and shrugged.
I took a machine gun and Enid grabbed a pistol. We sat back down and awaited our ride to reach it's destination.
Soon enough, we came to a stop. I ordered Enid to hide in a corner, behind a stack of boxes, and I did the same.
I heard the lift gate of the truck open, as sunlight came shining through. I put my gun at the ready and I saw Enid, from the corner of my eye, do the same.
My eyes landed on a tall man with dark blonde hair and a shorter, stubby man was to his right, along with a skinny, blonde woman behind them.
I could tell we weren't at any kind of sanctuary. We were surrounded by trees. They must have been taking a stop.
The blonde man stepped in the truck and had a puzzled look on his face. "Where are the two kids that we put back here?"
The other two looked at him and then to the back of the truck. All three took their guns out of their holsters and they held them up, tightly, slowly walking in our direction.
As the short man got closer to Enid, who was hiding behind the boxes, she looked at me with fear in her eyes. I rarely ever see Enid like this; like she was scared. She is usually the most fearless person I know, but not today.
I looked ahead of me and the woman was just inches away. I couldn't wait any longer. I fired my gun at her head and more gunshots blasted.
I heard Enid yell in pain. She must have been shot. I shot the man that was next to her, and Enid shot the blonde man that was making his way toward me. Enid groaned in pain.
"Enid!!!" I yelled.
I dropped my gun and ran over to her, taking off my flannel and folding it. I rested it on her wound.
I hope you enjoyed! I have been really busy with school so it's hard for me to update a lot, but if you guys are liking the story I will try and update more.
