Carl

I led Damon to my house, weary of the situation. I wasn't comfortable letting him into Alexandria, let alone coming to my house and meeting my father. The only reason he is still alive is because of Enid, and the only reason he came to this safe zone is because of the deal he is offering, which better be important.

"Thanks for not beating me to death" Damon said as we walked down the road, getting closer and closer to my place.

"You're lucky. The only reason that you're alive is because of Enid. She has a pure heart and didn't want me to kill you." I snapped at the beginning, then getting less and less angry as the sentence continued.

"You really do love her, don't you?" he bowed his head.

"Yes, and you're not going to touch her again, or anyone that lives here. You're not going to bring any harm to them, or try to kill them. Not Enid, not Maggie, not my dad, not my baby sister, or anyone else." I stopped walking, crossing in front of him so that our bodies were facing each other.

Damon raised his hands up, his head still facing downward. "I won't." He raised his head. "You have a little sister?"

"Yes." I answered sharply, turning around and beginning to walk again.

We reached my house and found my dad in the kitchen with Michonne. They looked like they were in a deep conversation, but stopped talking when they heard us enter the room.

My dad looked up. "Carl! You're back. How did it go?"

Michonne also looked at us. "Hi Carl! Who's this?" She pointed her head toward Damon.

"This is Damon, a friend of Gregory's. He brought a deal." I answered.

Enid

Maggie and I went back to our house. I plopped on the couch and started reading a comic book that I have read hundreds of times before.

Maggie sat next to me.
"What are you reading?"

I didn't answer, but lifted the comic from my lap so that Maggie could see the cover and read the title.

"Is it good?" She continued.

I just nodded, obviously not willing to engage in any conversation. My mind wasn't in that sort of state.

"I was never into comic books. I always loved the girly romances and fantasy stories." She chuckled.

Still, I didn't answer.

"Enid? Are you okay?" She tried to make eye contact with me, but my head was bowed down, buried into the book.

"Enid. . . ." She sighed.

I looked up, making eye contact with Maggie and not even realizing it, but crying. Maggie wiped a tear droplet from under my eye, with her thumb.

"What's wrong?"

I set the comic book next to me and got into a more comfortable position. I wasn't going to tell Maggie about what happened with Damon, but about something else that happened in my past time, at the beginning of the apocalypse.

"I never told anyone. . . . always kept it a secret" I started. Maggie scooted closer to me.

"My mom and dad had just died, and I was left all alone. I walked for almost two days straight, without rest. I was too frightened to sleep, too scared to look away from the walkers. I came across a group that traveled in vans, who tied me up and took me to wherever it was that they lived. They put me into a small, dark room, where there were no doors or windows, only a cement floor and brick walls. They would throw me a can of green beans every day. I hate green beans."

Maggie wrapped her arm around my shoulder and cuddled me closer to her. "I'm so sorry, Enid. How long did they keep you there?"

"Keep me there? I wasn't finished. I found my own way out. After. . . ." I went off.

Maggie shook my shoulder. "After what?"

I continued my story. "The room that I was in was on the same floor as one of their main rooms, and they would usually drink in that room every night. I would be able to hear them through the walls." I sighed. "They got really drunk, one night. The man that would usually throw me the can of green beans came in. Except, this time, he actually handed me the beans rather than throwing the can. He told me that I was pretty." I stopped to swallow a gulp. "Really pretty. . . . He ripped off my shirt and called in some other drunk guys who were out in the other room. They auctioned me off like I was a slave. The guy who won, took me into a different room and attempted to rape me." I finished.

Maggie's jaw dropped. She was speechless, and I wasn't expecting a different reaction. That was the scariest night of my life. It was horrifying.

"Attempted?" She eventually said.

"Yeah. He got pretty close. He tore off my clothes, put his hands all over me. But I somehow managed to find something sharp next to me, and stab it through his neck."

This man was the first person I've ever killed. It scarred me. This man was closer to raping me than Damon was, and if Damon did end up raping me,
I wouldn't have wanted to kill him like I killed this man. Not because I like Damon, because I don't, but because every time I kill someone, a part of me dies too. That's why I pleaded for Carl not to kill Damon. Although I wouldn't be the one killing him, I would still feel responsible. I'm happy that Carl was there to save me that time, instead of me risking my soul to save myself.

"You're the first one that I told this story to." I told Maggie, who's eyes were filling with tears.

"How did you escape?" Maggie choked out.

"That's simple. All of the men were drunk, so I snuck past them, found an exit, and ran as fast as I could away from that place. I found new clothes at a department store."

Maggie pulled me into a hug. I was done crying at this point. I was more angry at the men than sad. One day, I will kill all of them.

"Well, you're safe now. You have a family here, people that love you." She paused. "But. . . why did this memory come back to you today? What happened today that made you think of it?"

This was a question I wouldn't answer. I don't know the deal that Damon is trying to make with Rick, but I imagine that it's important. If anyone finds out what Damon did to me, Rick wouldn't trust the Hilltop anymore.

I simply shrugged my shoulders.

So you guys either loved or hated this chapter. I guarantee. I just decided to give Enid a backstory that would change her. Idk if it makes sense, but I tried. Thanks for reading!
