As she would blink, she would be drifted off into another different world. A moment before, she stood in between clouds , looking down upon her home; earth, and now, she stood at her own funeral. She could see all her friends, her brother, her parents, but no one could see her.
Se so desperately wanted to touch them, to call out at them, but couldnt.
She sat , or more like floated, beside her brother. He was weeping, ome thing he hated to do. She couldn't see him this sad, she had to do something. She tried putting her arm on his shoulder, try soothing him, but it passed directly through him.
Well . . . This was depressing. There must, should, have been a way to touch him, to make him feel her presence, she wished.
Even though, he couldn't hear her, she spoke, pouring all her emotions, all her sadness, into her voice, "You don't look good this way. You look horrible."
She expected him to go on crying, not even hearing her voice, but what she did not expect was Rodger to react.
He stiffened as she spoke. But after a moment, he looked up. The expressions on his face showed that he was shocked. He looked around as if wishing to see someone, probably herself, thought Amelia.
He whispered in a broken voice, broken but desperate, and a tiny twinge of hope, "Amelia. . ." No one heard him but Amelia did.
Again she spoke in the same way she spoke before, "Dear brother, just remember that I am always here with you, no matter what." Rodger heard her, this time clearly, as well. Tears were flowing out of his eyes. But this time they weren't sad tears, they were happy ones. He stood up and looked in every direction frantically, to find Amelia.
After his failed attempts to find Amelia, he shouted, "Amelia!" Everyone looked at him at this.
Amelia could see Illiana rushing towards Rodger through the corner of her eye. He slumped back to his seat and looked towards the ground with disappointment. Illiana came and sat on the other side of Rodger and held his hand tightly.
Speaking again to Rodger did not look like very smart thing to do at this time but still, Amelia spoke again, "I am not visible, I am in your heart, always with you, it's upon you when you leave me." Rodger looked up again.
"Why are you doing this to me Amelia? Where are you?" said Rodger. Illiana heard him. "She is here Rodger, with you, in your heart. She never left.", she said.
How amazing Illiana was, without Amelia speaking to her, she understood Amelia so well.
"And Rodger, never leave Illiana. Okay? She is the best you can ever find." said Amelia.
"Okay." said Rodger. Illiana hugged him and comforted him.
Amelia put aside all emotions and looked around to find Ashlyn. She was the reason, Amelia was back. She had to complete her task.
She saw Ashlyn sitting in a corner along with Thea. The expression on her face were unreadable but as Amelia had known her for a long time, since they were in diapers, so she could easily tell that she was definitely sad.
Amelia moved towards her. While she was on her way, she crossed her own body. When she saw herself laying down there, she got scared for a moment. She screamed but of course, no one heard her. She realised again that she was dead. The thought made her sad, really depressed, but she had to concentrate on the task at hand.
She moved towards Ashlyn. By this time Ashlyn was standing up, and moving towards the exit. She must be going back to her house, thought Amelia. She followed Ashlyn to her house.
Ashlyn entered her room and fell on her bed. Last night's events had drained all energy out of her. Her mother already knew that she would be very tired, physically as well as mentally, and won't be able to talk to her so she had already prepared her food and kept it on the table in front of her bed.
She was very exhausted. She didn't even feel like opening her eyes.
Amelia sat on the other side of her bed, observing her. She couldn't understand how to make herself visible to Ashlyn so she started with speaking.
Before she could speak, a mischievous plan struck her. She had a wicked smile on her face.
"Boooooooo!" said Ameli, more like shrieked.
At the sudden noise, Ashlyn jumped from her bed as she opened her eyes and sat up with shock.
"Whose here?" she said.
Amelia moved towards Ashlyn and run her finger across Ashlyn's face. The amazing part of this was that Ashlyn felt it. She stood up and with her eyes wide open, she asked, "Whose here? I say, whose here? Come out at once! Or I wil- or I will!"
Amelia laughed. And Ashlyn heard it. She started searching every corner of the room to find out who it was but , to her annoyance, she couldn't find anyone.
She was scared. "I'll call the police! Whose there? I am asking for the last time."
"Oh dear!" Amelia said.
Ashlyn was shocked at this because she recognised this voice. She could recognise this voice from anywhere. "What is happening to me? Am I imagining things?", she said.
"No you are not!" said Amelia. Still amused.
Ashlyn was even more shocked at this. "Amelia is dead! How could this be! Who are you? Show yourself!", she exclaimed, panicking as she started slowly making her way to the door.
"Amelia's body might be dead, but who said anything about her soul." said Amelia. She was trying so hard not to laugh out loud at this point. It was so funny to get Ashlyn riled up.
"This is non sense!" shouted Ashlyn, "Why the hell am I imagining things!"
She closed her eyes started breathing deeply. She sat on her bed with her eyes closed and said, "Now, when I open my eyes, I will not think about Amelia, or else I'll go mad."
She rubbed her hands together and put them on her face and then opened her eyes.
Now Amelia wanted to make herself visible to Ashlyn. She prayed to god that it happens. She sat in front of Ashlyn's bed.
Ashlyn opened her eyes and gasped. She couldn't believe what she saw. Her eyes were wide open with shock. And she said only one thing, like a whisper, "Amelia...."
