○●Mossley Castle, Summer, 1st January 1389●○

I was in a hurry, I slept in later then I was intending. The sun was just beginning to raise from its own slumber, I prayed no one would spot me in my escape. I'd already paid off the stable boy to release my horse, Spirit, into the back paddocks without his saddlery. I would bring him back in later tonight pretending I'd spent the day riding him. At the present moment I was currently crawling over the large stone walls in the usual place, where the walking guards could not see me.

As soon as I was over the wall and safely on the grass bellow I sprinted to the tree line, to a fallen log that I'd hidden my travel satchel in. I pulled the contents from the satchel and laid them on the log, with I quick peer around me I hastily tore off my ridding gear. As I took off my clothing I carefully folded them, as not to crease them, and laid them on the log alongside my riding boots. I picked up the clothing I'd pulled out of the satchel. The clothing of choice was an old grey tattered dress I'd bought off my hand maid. I'd given her enough to purchase six new dresses for this one so that I would not stand out when adorning it. I then pulled on the old boots I'd bought off a kitchen servant, I wanted an old pair as well so I wouldn't stand out. The only thing I'd done to them was get them resoled. I quickly pulled the dress over my head, it hung loosely around my body, I liked that the dress was not skin tight. It was a refreshing change from the tight dresses I was forced to wear daily.

I then reached up and pulled my waist length, dark brown hair into a closed fist at the nape of my neck. I easily held all of my thin hair in my small grip then twirled the rest of its length around and tied it in a tight knot against my head. I then let the ends go and cascade down my back. But my hair was still at my waist, way to long for travel, so I platted the loose ends and picking up my piece of twine I'd kept in my satchel, I tied off the ends of the plat so it would not come undone. I also kept all the hair off of my face as it would often get sweaty when travelling.

After fixing my hair I then picked up the broad brimmed straw hat I had woven myself and securely fitted it on top of my head, pulling it down low on my face. I carefully placed my other items inside the satchel and hid it back inside the fallen log. Walking to the other end of the log I pulled out my armoury bag, I wasn't stupid, I wasn't going unprotected. I pulled out a small knife and its sheath and slid it inside my right boot, then I pulled out a small belt that I secured at the topmost section of my thigh. The belt adorned two daggers, one small while the other long. The long dagger was the length of my thigh, which in all honesty really meant it was a short dagger. My dress reach my ankles and the weaponry was well hidden.

After replacing the bag I quickly set off for the market town, Yarlford. As I was making my way around the large stone walls I could hear movement which caused me to slow and become cautious, I hadn't come this far to get caught now. My escape was a weekly occurrence, every Wednesday it had become habit to escape the boundary walls and visit the town in another identity. I listened carefully for my name, waiting to see if my absence was noticed yet when I overheard two guards on the other side of the wall making their rounds.

"...then I said 'if you can't handle it, then do it yourself', I can't handle the woman sometimes, yet I can't bring myself to stop loving her." one of the guards with a deep voice stated, he seemed to be having marital problems. A younger voice then piped in.

"George, I'm sorry but can we speak of something other than your fiery wife for once?" George just seemed to grunt at the young voice and continued on.

"You're lucky bud, your woman's quiet and does as she's told without complaint, she's even bore you a child already." I was beginning to tire of the conversation but it seemed that they were headed the same direction I was so I followed them, using their voices for cover, when the conversation changed topics my interest was finally piqued.
