"Good morning honey." My mom greeted me dully the next morning. I stepped into the kitchen and packed my usual granola bar and water for lunch before grabbing my breakfast yogurt.
"Morning." I greeted her with a large smile. I hadn't seen my mom since I started school 3 days ago.
"How's school been? Have you made any friends?" My thoughts quickly shot towards Chris. I didn't consider him a friend, more of an irritant, but he was the only one who actually talked to me besides my teachers. I shrugged my shoulders before answering.
"No, not really." I looked back over at her only to see her starring down at her phone, obviously ignoring me because she hadn't responded to me yet.
"Oh!" She said as if remembering something. "I'm leaving for a business trip, i'll be gone before you get home. My trip shouldn't last more than a week, I put some money on your debit card so you should be okay on food..." She trailed off mumbling the last part as she tapped away at the keyboard of her phone.
I sighed grabbing my bag and leaving the house before she said anything else. This is why dad left us. She never had time for him. It's worse now than it was then. Now I never see her.

When I made it to school I noticed Chris and his friends standing near the front entrance. I let out a groan as I took the keys out of the car. I stepped out and locked the doors behind me. I prepared myself for the greeting I was about to receive.
"Hello beautiful." I glanced over and sure enough, Chris was starring right at me, his friends had smiles on their faces. I ignored him and continued inside. "Hey, wait up." He hollered and jogged to catch up to me. I sighed and spared him a glance.
"I really don't feel like talking, could you please leave me alone?" I almost begged him as I slowed my pace to a stop. His smile fell from his face.
"What's the matter?" He wondered. I shook my head.
"Don't take this offensively or anything, but I have no idea who you are, so sorry, but you're not the first person I want to share my problems with." I turned around and started walking towards my calculus class.

"Good morning everyone." Mrs. Bradley sang right after the bell rang.
There was a chorus of hello's and good mornings replied back to her. I took a glance at the guy I borrowed a pencil from yesterday. There he was, sitting in his seat like he had been doing since the 3 days I've been here. He had already pulled out his drawing book and was quietly doodling on the page.
"Okay so today, I want you guys to do a partner project. The assignment is for you and your partner to split the paper in half. You will each draw whatever you want on your half, but you will eventually have to merge them together in the center. Now this project will be worth a bigger grade because it does require you to be a little more creative. I can't wait to see what you guys come up with." She ended the instructions by walking over to her desk and sitting down. She began doing something on her laptop. I was distracted by the chatter that had erupted by everyone picking their own partners. Everyone seemed to be friends in this class, and then you have me and my table partner. After looking around at all the new partnerships that had settled down and began discussing what they wanted to draw, I turned to face the only available person in the room. Said person just so happened to be looking at me as well.
"Do you want to be my partner?" I asked sheepishly. He gave me a small smile before nodding.
He had flipped to a clean page in his book then came around to sit next to me instead of across from me.
