Chapter Eleven: "Hey, I'm Chandler Chance."
April 11th, 2031
"So don't do drugs kids, stay in school, and use protection!" Coach Reese told our health class a second before the last bell rang.
Everyone got up quickly and rushed out the door. I wasn't ever the person to hurry to class. I always took my time, placing everything away in my bag neatly. I realized I was the last person in the classroom so I threw my bag over my shoulder and headed toward the door.
"Hey, Chance, want to talk about anything bugging you?" Coach Reese called after me. I turned back to him.
"Uh, nothings really bothering me, Coach." I told him.
"Well, have a good weekend, Chance." He told me. I smiled politely and left his class.
The sun was so bright and hot today. It was only early April so it couldn't be this hot. It's only spring not incredibly close to summer. I got to my car and Blake was standing with a girl. He was leaning on my car like he owned it. She looked very happy talking to him it made me not want to interrupt, but I had work.
"Hey, Blake." I greeted him.
"Oh! Hey, Chan." He seemed happy to see me. Maybe he was waiting for me this whole time. I felt happy to see him too.
"Who's this?" I asked. The girl smiled and held out her hand.
"I'm Ally Vega." Her bright smiled almost blind me. She was very pretty, but I could see a story behind her. Her name actually sounded familiar though, like Blake brought her up before for some reason. I couldn't remember though.
"Hey, I'm Chandler Chance." I told her, shaking her hand.
"Wow your name just goes together." She told me. I laughed.
"That's why everyone calls me Chan. It's a nickname for both my first and last name." I slid a hand nervously through my hair.
"So Chan! I wanted you to meet Ally because she's my girlfriend now." He smiled proudly while holding Ally's hand possessively. He seemed really happy so I was happy for him.
"That's great. It really is nice to meet you, Ally. I do have to go now though. I work soon." I told them both. Ally smiled politely, but Blake looked hurt.
"It's Friday? Aren't you going to hang out?" He asked.
"8:30 at Sarah Bridges party. Y'all should go." I told them. Ally's smile went flat. I was confused.
"No. We have plans." She told me. They walked away. I ignored it I guess and took the same roads to work. They always made me feel better. I cranked up some dub step and drove fast.
"I had a good time with you at work today, Chan!" Josh told me kindly. He always gave me a reason to keep my head up. He boosted my self confidence sky high! I always told him something nice too, but it just was never the same.
I pulled my phone out of my pocket. 10 messages already.
