This New Life

Chapter Two: New Things

***Just a heads up each chapter is going to be a new grade then the next chapter summer. So this chapter is Chandler's 6th grade summer. I may skip a summer but I don't know yet.

May 30th, 2027. 

School was school. On the last day we had a big celebration and everyone got to bring snacks and things. It was really fun. I worked really hard this year and made all A's. I got a lot of promotions and got to join in a lot of clubs. They weren't really all that fun and I felt kind of nerdy. No one made fun of  me, I guess because most of the "popular" guys were my best friends. Like Kenny and Blake. Though Kenny and I are more friends than Blake and I. My favorite club was chess even though most of the kids were really weird in there. I even did Quiz Bowl but most of the kids in that club didn't like me and called me too smart. 

Right now I'm just glad it's summer. I need a break after I got A honor roll. As soon as I get home my mom and dad are going to take Stella, Kenny, and I to the water park. I'm super excited. Stella and Kenny are riding the bus home with me. Even though Stella rides the bus with me everyday because we ride the same bus. We only live a corner away. 

I think Kenny likes Stella though because he always flirts with her. He tickles her all the time. I guess I do feel a little jealous but Stella's my best friend and I couldn't feel that way about her. 

Kenny and Sophie's parents are my dads best friends. Zac and Zoe. As soon as they got married apparently they had a baby. No one knew that Zoe was pregnant only Zac and her. They kept it a big secret from everyone. Then my parents wanted Zac and Zoe to come meet me so they surprised them with Kenny. He was almost one by the time they met him. They also surprised them with Zoe's baby bump which was Sophie. So they started having kids quickly. I guess that's why they got married so fast too but also they were in love or something. I'm happy they had Kenny and Sophie though. Because Kenny's my best friend and Sophie's a really nice girl.  

"Look who's here, Kenny." My mom said from the living room.  

I looked and it was Zac and Zoe. My dad was talking to Zac while Zoe was talking to Sophie. When Sophie saw me she smiled and blushed a little. I laughed when Stella hit me. 

"Who's that, Chandler?" Stella whispered to me.

"Zac and Zoe, who are Kenny's parents, who are also my dads best friends. Then Sophie, who is Kenny's little sister. Even though she's only a year younger than I am." I told her. She nodded her head.

"Hi, Chandler." Sophie said in a cheery voice. 

"Hey, Sophie. I heard you get to go to the sixth grade. Are you nervous?" I asked her.

"Nope. I'm excited. Were you nervous?" She asked me.

"Yes but it went well. So are y'all coming with us?" I asked, smiling.

"Yes! I'm happy your dad and mom talked to my parents or we wouldn't be going!" She said, I smiled. I was happy she was going because that's only fair I guess. 

"Awesome!" I said, walking back to where Stella was. 

Stella looked bored and like she was ready to leave. I knew how she felt because I was so ready to go as well.

"Mom, when are we leaving?" I asked her. She smiled at me and patted my back.

"Soon, baby. We are waiting on Aunt Maylynne, Uncle Tom, and your cousins." She told me. I frowned because I didn't like Rose very much, she was mean. She also complained a lot. I loved my Uncle Tom though. He was so funny and loved to sing to me. My Aunt Maylynne is pretty awesome too. She's a zoologist. She's beautiful too with short dirty blond hair and this golden brown eyes like the sun!
