We stopped.
By the lake.
To rest our legs.
The stars were out now.
Blinking brilliantly.
As if they were talking to us.
I wondered what message.
They were trying to send.
I wondered who sent the message.
"What about God?"
I wanted to know.
What she believed.
She layed on her back.
Staring at the beacons of light.
"I believe in the power of tea."
"The power of tea?"
I was lost.
Per usual with her.
"Yep. And life is just
A mix of teacups and teabags."
She said grinning.
Funny, she wasn't even kidding.
Her mind was something too simple.
To understand.
I layed down next to her.
As she asked me.
"What do you believe?"
What did I believe?
I wasn't sure about God.
I wasn't sure about nothing either.
"There must be some sort of
Higher Beings up in the sky."
I replied with the happy medium.
"And I think,
They like to play games too."
I added, frowning a little at the sky.
She leaned over me.
Brushing her fingertips.
Over my lips.
"Don't frown.
You should smile.
It's prettier that way."
She was too close.
My face grew hotter.
As I watched her.
"But..."
She smirked.
"No buts.
Your Higher Beings like you."
"They never did anything
especially for me."
I looked away.
"Oh yeah?
Think harder about that one."
She said.
So I thought about.
What these forms of Divine Power.
Could have given me.
Life? Sure.
Health? Of course.
Happiness?
Then I realized.
What they gave me.
They gave me her.
