I paced around my house, with my mum on the sofa, watching me. Everything was running at full-speed in my head. Jack's mental state; the baby; the dress, and so on. It was one big catastrophe in one small place, my brain. It was all in my head.
In real life, everything was going easy-breezy with no hiccups, yet. I just looked slightly insane, freaking out over nothing at all.
"Take a breather, love. Come and sit down." My mum patted the spot next to her. Agreeing, I sat beside her and she held my hand.
"You know, tomorrow is going to be the day you've dreamt about since you were little. And, you get to experience it with the man of those dreams. Not only that, you'll have a full life ahead of you, with Jack by your side. Let me tell you (y/n), I've been around a good few years and I know true, requited love when I see it. What you and Jack have is special. It's rare. It's real. And you better count yourself lucky you've found someone quite like that. Yes, there have been issues in the past. But the pair of you got through it. Pretty much literally hand in hand. And that's all you need. So, tomorrow will be the start of the rest of your life. Embrace it my love."
By now, my head was in my mums lap. She'd given me a full speech on the love between Jack and I. Hearing it from someone else made it feel completely real. Tomorrow was happening.
I would be getting married, tomorrow.
I announce the pregnancy to all our friends and family, tomorrow.
I begin a life-long journey, tomorrow.
All with Jack.
The front door knocker made me jump out of my mums lap. I stood up and walked to answer it. There was my father, looking out of breath and sweaty.
"Dad?" I invited him in. He and Jack were meant to be at a hotel, together. But Jack, bless him, must be sitting alone.
He went through to the lounge, kissed my mum and sat in the armchair.
"(Y/n), would you be so kind?" He gestured to where I was sat for me to retake my seat.
My mum looked about as confused as I felt, also not knowing the situation.
"What's going on?" I looked between parents, my heart racing.
"It's Jack." My father started.
"What about him? Is he okay?" I panicked even further, and almost started to cry.
"Listen to your father, (y/n)." My mum looked towards him. I did the same, my knee bopping up and down and my fingers tapping on my other knee.
"We can't find him. Jack's disappeared..."
