Ugh! The feeling of my warm bed underneath my cold body is the best feeling ever.
I could feel the morning sunlight peeking through my curtains, interrupting my beauty sleep. Wishing I could stay asleep like this forever.
"Reema?!" The sound of my mom yelling and smacking the door open made me jump from my bed immediately, looking like I've just finished digging through a garbage can. "It's 7:00 o'clock! Wellah (of course) she takes to long to sleep because of texting at night." She lectures placing a hand on her hip.
"Tayeb (okay) mom, I'm awake Khalas (stop it)" I roll my eyes and walk to my closet to pick an outfit.
"And your giving me attitude? Wallah (I swear) your walking to school today!" She slams the door shut.
"Ugh!" I shout tucking my roots and slamming the closet door shut.
I quickly took a five minute shower because I didn't have much time. I took out a plan white top and tucked it in my skinny jeans, throwing a navy cardigan on top. I picked a chunky necklace to dress up the outfit a little and matched the whole worderope with my beige hijab. I put on some makeup and slipped on my plain black flats.
I ran down stairs, snatched a apple from the fruit basket and ran out of the house quickly, not caring to even wash the apple.
When I arrived school, it was empty. Of course I had to got to the office and get a pass. I got a pass and went for first period, biology. Karaf (yuck).
I knocked on the door and walked towards Ms. James desk to give her my pass. She gave me a disgusting glare and snatched the pass from my grip. Well, an Arab hater.
I'm the only Arab in this school, and it makes me sometimes uncomfortable. But I'm still proud for what I am of course.
I quickly went back to my seat, smiling to my best friend that was directly next to me.
"Where were you?" She whispers.
"Over slept." I whispered back.
The class went by so slow. Just the teacher ratting about neutrons and other stuff that I didn't quite capture.
After the bell rang, me and my friend Alisa walked to our second period. Because, we had that period also together.
"Did you see the new kid?" Alisa asks nodding towards the bathroom, motioning for me to follow her inside.
"No, but there's like a new kid everyday does it make him different?" I ask stopping in front of one of the mirrors, to adjust my hijab.
"He's so fucking hot!" She squeals.
"Language," I raise a brow. She rolls her eyes and finishes applying her lip stick.
"Come on Reema, your so religious. Cursing is normal everyone does it. You should teach me curse words in Arabic, they'll come in handy-"
"I'm not gonna teach you curse words in Arabic I told you that a thousand times." I snatched my bag pack off the floor, with a roll of my eyes and waited for her to finish.
Lunch
"Oh my god! how?" Me and Alisa were bursting laughing about something that happened to her neighbor.
"He was cutting the plants when his pants went down and his butt cheeks showed." We burst into harder laughter. But then my smile disappeared when I saw them walking.
They've been bullying me since freshman year. I'm a junior now so that's about two years are so. But what brought my attention was that guy that was with them. I've never seen him with them before. Our eyes met and we made eye contact for a couple of minutes. He scrolled his eyes up and down my body, gave me another glance and looked away.
"Oh my god! That's the new guy that I told you about today in the bathrooms." Alisa said looking towards the same guy. He had jet black hair with pearling blue eyes. He was very handsome. What the hell are you thinking?
"Nice towel." Noah the lead said while the others chuckled including the new guy. Well, looks like a another racist joined the group.
I just really wish there was another Arab with me at school. No offense I love Alisa so much and she supports me to be who I am and not to be ashamed, but like still I sometimes feel lonely.
Like I'm living between cheetahs and I'm the only monkey. What a great comparison huh? Lol.
I rolled my eyes at there stupid comment and just went back to eating my lunch. The guys sat at the table that was directly in front of us. The new guy gave me a last glance but this time it was more sympathetic, when he was interrupted be her, ugh!
Stacey, the schools number one slut. Excuse my language, it was killing me I had to say it.
She sat on his lap and pulled his face towards her, crashing into a kiss. I scrunched my face in disgust and looked away. Istaghfurallah (a word we say when we commit a small sin)
"Already made a girl friend?! Looks like I'm too late." Alisa shakes her head and finishes digging in her lunch.
Alisa is not Muslim, but she's still from a religious catholic family. She's not allowed to wear revealing clothing that show to much skin and she's not allowed to date. So that's why I like that we have some common.
Me and Alisa finished our lunch. So we got up and threw them in the garbage can.
"""""""""""Mama, I'm home!" I shouted the moment I entered the house. I walked in to find her in the kitchen cutting a chicken.
"Okay, go in and change and come help me with the akl (food)."
"But mama I just came, let me rest a little?" I whine, throwing my back pack on the floor.
"Your tired, your tired." She places her clean hand on her hip. "Wallah (I swear) your never getting married, your so lazy. All you do is sleep and eat-."
"Shu fie ya Mara? (What's going on)" my dad interrupts my mom by walking in the kitchen.
"Walla ishy! (Nothing!), your daughter Is just so lazy." She throws her arms in the air.
My dad looked at me raising a brow, signaling for me to explain what's going on.
I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms above my chest. "Baba, I just came from school and I'm tired and mama wants me to help her. I told her that I wanna relax a little, then she started yelling at me." I sight frustratingly.
My dad looked back and forth between me and my mom then he shook his head disapprovingly. " ya Mara (a way of saying my wife), the girl is tired. Let her relax for a bit." I look towards my mom to find her eyes widen from my dads response. I raised my head up confidently and smirked towards my mom.
"Eeeeee, look walak btejhar feah ka'ada( oh my look she's smirking)" my mom gasps, smacking her hand on her hip.
"You know, you guys solve your own problems I'm going out." My dad throws his arms in the air and disappears with his jacket through out the entrence.
I looked back towards my mom to find her glaring at me. I turned around slowly then ran quickly towards my room incase she was planning to kill me.
