A week later:
"What do u mean we're going back to Palestine?" I asked shockingly.
"Me and your mother thought about it. Raising you in a middle eastern country is better then here." My dad said.
No. This can't be true! After living here in America my whole life, he wants to take me back there?
No offense I love going there to see my relatives and all that. But moving there, that's another story.
"But Baba, you already know that I'm responsible and I wouldn't do anything stupid!" I said throwing my arms in the air.
"Reema, I'm sorry. I'm buying the tickets today." He said. "You'll finish this year and we'll go back there, you'll finish your education there." He shrugged.
"But Baba ma bedy (I don't want to)!" I almost yelled. His eyes farrowed in confusion and he immediately switched it to a glare.
"Don't u raise your voice at me." He warned.
"Baba I'm sorry I just don't want to go there. What about Aliza? I can't leave her please." I pleaded while tears were about to form in my eyes.
"I'm sorry habibti (honey), trust me it's better for you." He said. I turned around in my heels and immediately ran up stairs slamming the door behind me.
This just can't be happening to me!
The next day:
"Reema, you can't." Aliza said, slamming her hand on the desk.
"It's not my choice Aliza." I sighted frustratingly and shrugged.
"Yes it is. Your almost eighteen, you have the right to do what ever u want." She said.
"Funny Aliza." I chuckled sarcastically. "You think it's that easy for me? The only time I'm free from my parents is when I get married."
"Reema, you can't go." Aliza said sadly.
I adjusted my self on my seat so I would be facing her. I placed a hand on her shoulder and rubbed it soothingly.
"I don't want to go, but I have too." I said sadly. Aliza immediately pulled me in a hug and I hugged her back tightly.
"There still time. We'll have to make the best of it before you leave." She said in the crook of my neck.
"Of course we will." I smiled. She let go of the hug and i immediately wiped away the tear that escaped my eye. "L-lets go to the bathrooms." I nodded my head. Aliza nodded back with a smile and we both left.
I'm gonna miss this girl so much..
