Y/n sat in her room, she was studying, she was good like that. Not like some of her other friends, Michelle and Tony come to mind... Jal was, she was under a lot of pressure too. More pressure than y/n that was for sure but they understood each other more than most. Her phone began to ring for a tenth time. She glanced at it, it read
Incoming call from Chris
H/n knew she shouldn't pick it up, but, she had too. It was very rarely Chris would call her ten times. "Chris? You okay?" She asked, she was always worried about him.
"Yeah I'm fine" he said, dismissing her, "are you okay?"
"Why wouldn't I be?" She asked him with out answering his question.
"You promised you would come to the party... remember?" Chris said, she could almost see his grin.
"Oh fuck, yeah, sorry change of plan" y/n said, hearing someone coming up the stairs she said quickly, "Chris I gotta go, see you later" and snapped her phone shut. She chucked her phone under her pillow and pulled the text book back on her lap and began highlighting random words.
"Who were you talking to?" Her Dad asked after opening her bedroom door.
"Myself" she said unsure, looking up at him for a moment and then back to her book, continuing to highlight.
"Right, well don't forget we're going out at 7, so I could leave you some money for a pizza"
"I think I'll skip dinner, I have a really long essay to write and I wanna get it write" y/n said, she wasn't lying. He dad nodded, he wasn't too bothered whether she ate or not, passing her exams, however was the important thing. She liked it when her parents went out, even if they were just pretending to be a couple, it meant she could relax properly.

Chris snapped his phone shut and huffed. "She hung up" he huffed and looked to Jal and Cassie who were awfully quiet when it came to y/n. "Do you know something?" Chris asked finally, Tony, Sid, Michelle and Maxxie looked to Cassie and Jal.
"About what?" Cassie asked. Chris just stared at her, "oh... about y/n, yes I guess we know a lot about her-"
"Nothing you don't know" Jal added. "She's got that essay to write though" Jal added.
"That's not what it sounded like on the phone..." Chris said.
"What do you mean? Is she okay?" Michelle asked and Jal rolled her eyes at Cassie. Cassie gave Jal a small smile to say she felt the same. Cassie and Jal always thought that Michelle pretends to care about y/n.
"I'm sure she's fine, you know how she is... like you Jal" Tony said, pulling Michelle into him a little more.
"I'm telling you she doesn't normally hang up on me" Chris huffed.
"We could go around there?" Sid offered.
"Yeah, I don't mind" Maxxie agreed, he was worried about y/n too, they weren't that close out but he wanted them to be closer and he knew he needed to gain her trust. Just like Jal had and Chris and Cassie. Y/n normally fitted in with the quieter ones. When Chris made a move, Maxxie said, "come on, lets go" and lightly slapped Chris's leg while he got to his feet. Cassie and Jal were already on their feet.

Jal knocked on the door, it was a good thing they still had their bags from college. "Hello Jal, Cassie and... everyone else" y/n's mum opened the door, "she's in her room" she said, ready to let them in but y/n's dad came to the door.
"Who's at the door?" He asked, then seen Chris, "she's busy studying, what you lot should be doing" he made eye contact with Chris. He thought Chris was bad for her.
"That's what were here for, the essay she's doing... we need help with ours and she said we could all help each other" Jal said. Remembering y/n said to her to use the homework or essay card with her dad, her mum would just let them in, she was more relaxed.
"Oh right..." he trailed off.
"Come on in, she's in her room" y/n's mum said, opening the door and moving out of the way to let them come in. Jal was about to knock on her bedroom door but Chris barged past her and opened the door quickly.
"Chris!" Y/n said, holding her hand over her chest, as if holding her heart, trying to slow it down. "You scared the shit out of me!" She said breathing heavily. Cassie noticed how pale y/n looked, Chris noticed too. In fact they all did. Cassie sat down on the bed next to y/n, pushing the books out of the way. She placed her hand on y/n's and gently moved her thumb. Y/n looked to Cassie and smiled to say thank you. "What are you all doing here anyway? I said I couldn't come" y/n said.
"We wanted to help you" Cassie said. Y/n looked to Cassie in confusion.
Then Jal said "you know... with the essay." Trying to hint at her.
Y/n nodded, not understanding, then made an 'o' shape with her mouth. Cassie giggled and moved away from y/n knowing she had calmed down, and sat on the floor next to Sid, while the rest of them took a seat on the floor, Jal sitting at y/n's desk, while Chris stood there still. "Chris?" Y/n waved a hand in front of Chris's face, he looked to her, "sit down."
Chris sat next to y/n on the bed. Y/n was keeping something from him and he wished he knew what it was, he wished y/n would trust him to tell him.

"Ugh!" Y/n huffed, pushing her laptop away from her. "I give up" she then said.
"I think we were at that point before we even arrived" Sid said. Cassie laughed, which made y/n smile.
At that moment, the door opened and y/n's Dad stood there, Chris cautiously moved over away from y/n slightly. "Were going now. Sure you don't want money for dinner?" He asked, looking at her mates.
"Yeah I'm quite hungry actually" y/n said, that was a lie but she knew her friends were.
"Alright I'll leave some money on the table downstairs" her dad said and shut the door as he left. Y/n kept her eyes on the door, a habit she had developed. Everyone stayed quiet watching y/n, watch the door. They heard some keys rattling downstairs and they door open, as wind blew through the house. Y/n got up and climbed over Chris and went to the window, watching as her parents left the house and walked down the street, her dad crossing leaving her mum on the other side of the road until she eventually crossed.
"Shall we go downstairs?" Y/n asked, ignoring Chris's confused look and walked out her room.
"What the hell was that?" Chris asked, mainly looking at Jal.
"We can't say, Chris. It's not our place" Cassie answered. Chris huffed and walked down the stairs loudly. Jal looked worried, she hoped y/n wouldn't be too scared at the noice he was making. They all stayed seated in the room, trying to listen.

Y/n jumped when she heard Chris bang the door on the wall when he pushed it open. "Why are you acting like... this all of a sudden?"
"What do you mean, Chris?" She asked. But she knew what he meant. Chris just looked into her. "It is what it is Chris, just leave it" she sighed, giving in and lowering herself down on the sofa. "I don't want to talk about it" she then added quickly, which always shut Chris's questions down.
"No, that's not going to work this time, y/n. You've told Jal and Cassie... why not me?" Chris sat next to her on the sofa.
"Because I know how you get" y/n replied. "All protective..."
"That's because I care" Chris tutted slightly. "If he-"
"No he doesn't" she cut him off, "he doesn't hurt me physically" y/n added.
"Okay" Chris whispered, realising he already knew what was going on, he pulled her into a hug, "I got you, okay?" He whispered.
"Okay" she whispered back.
