Drei cautiously knocked his knuckles against the wooden door of the bedroom.

"What is it?" Dipper's voice answered. Drei's eyes widened slightly. His friend's voice sounded so different, it sounded...hateful.

"Uh... It's me, Dip." Drei answered. There was silence on the other side of the door. "Dipper, listen. Mabel was just messing around. I'm sure you'll catch up to her when you get old....er..."

The door had opened to reveal Dipper, but he was now at least another foot taller than Drei. The golden eyed boy looked him up and down a couple of times. "Dude... What did you do?! What happened to you?!"

"Ya know," Dipper shrugged, "Had a growth spurt."

Drei narrowed his eyes at his friend. "A growth spurt? In the five minutes you were up here?!"

"Puberty never makes any sense, Drei. It works in mysterious ways."

"Dipper," Drei gave the boy a stern look. "what did you do?"

Dipper returned a glare. "I told you! I didn't do anything!"

"Yeah, right! And I'm the eighth and a half president of the United States!" Drei shoved his way past Dipper, who started to yell at him, and froze when he saw what was lying on Dipper's bed.

The crystal.

Dipper had turned it into some kind of contraption by connecting it with a flashlight.

Drei angrily picked it up and turned to Dipper. "What the heck are you doing with this?! You were supposed to grow to Mabel's height, not to the Big Friendly Giant's!"

Dipper crossed his arms and glared at the auburn haired boy. "Who says? It's my crystal anyway!" he shot back.

"Yours?" Drei scoffed, "Ya know, I knew this was a bad idea from the start! I shouldn't have helped you find this stupid thing at all!" His voice was becoming increasingly higher. Drei cast Dipper another glare before stepping towards the door, and turning towards Dipper again.

"Wait! What are you doing?!" Dipper yelled at him.

Drei fiddled with the flashlight for a second and then pointed it at his friend. "Getting rid of this, after I get you back to your normal size."

Dipper's eyes widened. Normal sized? That meant being the object of ridicule in Mabel's jokes again! "NO!" Dipper shouted, slightly surprising Drei by his volume, "I AM NOT LETTING YOU TAKE THAT CRYSTAL!!!" Dipper suddenly charged at Drei, knocked him off his feet, and took off with the flashlight, down the stairs.

Drei blinked a couple of times, shocked at what just happened. The human journal rolled onto his hands and knees, and regained his composure. "DIPPER! GET BACK HERE!" he yelled after his friend, getting to his feet and dashing down the stairs.

Mabel was staring out the open front door with a quizzical look when Drei hopped off the last step.

"Where's Dipper?!" he asked, running to the door and looking out as well. There, running towards the forest, was Dipper. "Darnit! DIPPER! STOP!" he shouted, running out the door.

"Wait, Drei!" Mabel called after him, "What's going on?"

Drei didn't answer as he struggled to catch up with Dipper, shouting after him. How was he so fast? Finally, Drei managed to get close enough to grab Dipper by his vest and pull him back, sending them both to the ground, and the flashlight rolling a few feet away.

"LET GO!!!" Dipper yelled, shoving Drei away from him and reaching for the flashlight.

Drei quickly grabbed Dipper again, tossing him back a few inches behind him, and headed for the crystal himself. Dipper came back at Drei, and soon the two boys were fighting each other for the flashlight, both of them covered in dirt and scratches.

"LET GO OF IT!!!" they yelled simultaneously, yanking the crystal in their own direction.

Mabel frowned from where she was watching. "That's it! Both of you, knock it off!" she shouted, ready to split them apart.

Dipper glared in her direction and rolled his chocolate brown eyes. Mabel was the last person he wanted to see right now. "Oh, lemme guess, you're gonna take Drei's side!" he teased.

Mabel cocked an eyebrow. "I don't even know why you two are fighting! I just want you to stop!" she explained, trying to pull the boys apart. "But, if what you're doing is bad, Dip, then I'll definitely be with Drei on this one!"

"Ha! Bet he'd love that!" Dipper mocked. The human journal's golden eyes widened and he felt his cheeks heat up. "Especially when the one who takes his side is the girl he-"

"SHUT UP, DIPPER!!!" Drei almost screamed, tackling Dipper to the ground, fighting for the crystal.

Mabel watched in confusion and fear as the boys continued to fight, getting more aggressive. "Guys, stop it!"

"YOU ARE SO SELFISH!!!" Dipper shouted, pushing and pinning Drei to the ground.

"ME?! I'M SELFISH?!" Drei yelled back.

"I HELPED YOU FIND A PLACE TO STAY!!! AND YOU'VE NEVER EVEN THANKED ME!!!"

"WELL, YOU NEVER THANKED ME FOR EVERYTHING I'VE DONE FOR YOU!!! I'VE HELPED YOU EVERY TIME YOU DO SOMETHING STUPID AND PLUNGE US INTO A CRAPPY SITUATION!!!" Drei rolled and pinned Dipper. "YOU'RE THE ONE WHO WANTED TO GO AFTER THE GOBBLEWONKER!! YOU'RE THE ONE THAT TOOK US TO THAT FAKE INTERVIEW, WHEN GIDEON ALMOST KILLED US!!! I'VE SAVED YOUR LIFE TONS OF TIMES AND I'VE NEVER EVEN ASKED FOR ANYTHING IN RETURN!!! I HAVEN'T EVEN MENTIONED THE PROMISE YOU MADE TO HELP ME FIND MY BROTHERS, BECAUSE I WAS TRYING TO HELP YOU!!!!" Drei's fist rose into the air, ready to come down on Dipper's face.

"DREI!!!" Mabel screamed, grabbing his arm and yanking him off of her brother. "STOP IT!!! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU TWO?!"

Drei was breathing heavily, he looked at Mabel, then at Dipper, who was holding his nose, which was dripping crimson red. What? How did that happen? Drei took a shaky breath and looked at his fist. Blood. He punched Dipper.... He punched Dipper?!?!

Mabel rushed inside, calling for her great uncle.

Dipper wiped away the blood and growled at Drei. "I hate you... All of you!"

Drei gasped lightly and gazed down at his feet, his auburn hair no longer sticking on his sweaty face. What did he do? How could he have hurt Dipper like that?

"Well, isn't this dramatic," A southern accent said from the side. The two turned to see Gideon there,   smirking an evil smirk, slowly batting the crystal flashlight into his pudgy hand. "Looks like the Mystery Team has broken."

Drei looked away from the boy. He didn't want to deal with any of that kid's crap right now.

"Hey! That's my flashlight!" Dipper growled lowly, getting to his feet.

"Oh, this widdle ol' thing?" Gideon asked innocently, holding the crystal up, "Now, what in tarnation would you need a height altering crystal for, boy?"

Drei shot his eyes towards Gideon. How did he...?

Before they could react. Gideon pointed the flashlight at the two boys and turned it on. The pink light absorbed them, and they yelled out as everything around them grew in size.

Gideon had shrunk them.
