Chapter 5, Jax

Jax kept running until we were back at the foot of the town. I looked up and looked around, I was a little scared of this town because of the dragon slayers but I didn't see them anywhere so i'm guessing I was fine. "Hey you ok (y/n)?" Jax ask me when he put me down and I grabbed his hand. "Just a little scared." "Ok, I get that, but don't worry we're far away from them and we're in town now ok?" Jax said in a kind manner and trying to reassure me. "OK" I nodded and I started to look around, then my stomach growled. "Haha you sound hungry!" Jax laughed and I covered my stomach. "No I'm not!" I whined and he squeezed my hand. "Don't worry there is a restaurant right over there, and they have the best pancakes!" Jax said, I became confused though "What are pancakes?" I asked him and he looked like he seen a ghost or something. "You don't know what a pancake is?" He gasped and looked at me with wide eyes. " I'm sorry no" I shook my head side to side having my (h/l) (h/c) hair swing around my head. "Well now you will, come on (y/n)!" Jax said and pulled me along to the restaurant.

It was a decent building, It had grey bricks as the base and it had wooden walls and the the roof was tin or metal. (Remember this is like medieval times and not everybody was smart back then) We walked in and a lady instantly went up to us and asked where we want to sit. Jax pulled me along and we sat in a table with a candle in the middle. Jax pulled out the big wooden chair for me and I sat down in it and he then gently pushed me in. "Thank you Jax." I said to him and he smiled and gave me a piece of paper with words on it. "What's this?" I asked him and he chuckled a little. "Well this is a menu It has certain foods on there that you might want to eat." "Oh OK but I can't read, can't I just get the pancakes?" I asked him and he smiled and nodded. He then looked at his "menu" and he called a random lady over with a cape around her waist. I giggled, why would she have a cape around her waist? That's not where they go! The lady seen me giggle and she just smiled at me and gave me a wink. I smiled back trying not to giggle and she then walked away.

"Jax hehe why did she have a cape around her waist?" I asked him giggling a little. " A cape?...OH NO no no that was an apron that she had on, It's to keep the food from falling on her dress." He explained, "That's so cool!" I said and bounced in my chair with joy. I can't wait to tell Mridul all about these new things i'm learning! I then slowly stopped being happy and felt a strong urge to cry. I guess Jax found out since he gave me something and told me to cheer up. I looked at the little rock that was on the table and It was pretty. I sniffed and grabbed the rock gently. "Jax what is this?" I asked him while examining the small pretty rock. "It's a good luck charm, I found it when I was traveling here and it gave me good luck and so I thought I should give it to you. For good luck." He said and smiled at me. I beamed a smile and our food came to our table with the same lady that wrote down our orders.

"Well here you are young lady and son hope it's good." She said to us and smiled while walking away. I dug in as soon as Jax gave me my fork and I LOVED the taste of these so called pancakes! "They're so fluffy!" I exclaimed and stuffed my face with more. "Hahaha slow down you're gonna get a stomach ache later!" Jax smiled and said to me, he was also enjoying his food and looking around just in case there was any danger around us. We got done with our food and I wanted to bring the plates to the lady, but Jax said it was ok that we left the plated there and he put money on the table to. I shrugged not wanting to go more into the matter and we walked out of the restaurant. "Thank you Jax" I said while he carried me and I rested my head on his chest. I was tired after eating so much and he offered to carry me, so I let him. "No problem darlin' it was nothin'" He said in his weird accent and he kept walking silently.

I looked around us and I seen that we were going past a little pond. " Jax...can we....go to the little...pond" I said slowly since I was tired. "Sure thing kiddo." He said and he walked over to the little pond with firefly's over the pond being gentle with the breeze. Jax sat down on the tall grass and I sat in his lap my head still resting on his chest. "hey if you want to sleep you can, I'll find us a good place to stay over the night, deal?" He asked me and I nodded in agreement about to fall asleep. "Goodnight jax.....Goodnight Mridul.." I said and fell asleep.
