Chapter 2: Meeting him

Months pass and I'm still hiding in my shell, afraid of going outside like people are monsters who are waiting for me to get outside and eat me.

One day my mom made me go to the grocerie store and I was so annoyed and angry at her. I quickly got my wallet and bag and started making my way to the store. On my way I saw a lot of cats. Yes, cats. I love cats and I wish I had a pet.

I started going through my mom's list and in less than twenty minutes I was done and went to pay. I left the store and started making my way home as fast as I could because I hated being outside.

Suddenly I bumped into something or someone. ''I'm terribly sorry'' - the person said and started helping me pick up my groceries. ''T-thank you.'' - I stuttered and he chuckled. ''My name's Shawn. Shawn Mendes.'' - he said as he shook my hand. ''Cameron Dallas.'' - I said as I took his warm hand in mine.

''Do you think you can help me, Cameron? I'm here to perform some songs from my first album and I was exploring and I kinda got lost.'' - he started rambling. It was kinda cute though.

''I'd love to.'' - I said and I couldn't even believe myself. ''Can you show me around if you aren't busy?'' - he asked while scratching the back of his neck. ''Sure. Just let me bring back this at home.

We started walking to my house and I got a bit curious. ''So you are a singer?'' - I asked. ''Yeah. It's my passion. What about you?'' - he asked and I can't help but look at him and his beautiul features.

''I don't want to be anything. My life sucks and everyone hates me. You'd hate me too if you knew I was gay.'' - I said and mentally slapped myself. He's going to leave now. ''Why would I hate you about that? And I'm sure you'll find your path.'' - he said as he stopped and looked me in the eyes. ''Just believe in yourself and follow your dreams. Have hope, Cam.'' - he said and it warmed my heart.

''T-thank you for the kind words, Shawn.'' - I said as we arrived at my place. I left the bag and my mom wasn't home. It's time to show him around. I started thinking about where we can go and only one place came to my mind.

''Okay. I'll lead you to a special place I love going when I want to be alone. I'm sure you'll like it.'' - I said as I started leading him outside the house.

We started walking towards the forest behind my house to a little lake. It was the perfect place for a picnic or just to get away from the noise in the city. Not to mention the nature which was fascinating.

Trees everywhere you look, wild animals running all over the place, the gentle breeze and the birds singing. It's a paradise. ''This is amazing, Cameron. Thank you for showing me this place.'' - he said amazed by the beautiful sight in front of his eyes.

''Your welcome.'' - I said and we sat on the grass. We started talking and he told me all about his life. I'm kinda jealous because he is so liked by people while everyone hates me. After he trusted me I told him my story and at the end he gasped.

''How could anyone hate you? You are beautiful, kind and being gay doesn't define you as a person. Your actions and personality do.'' - he said as he took my hands in his. No one has ever told me something so kind and honest before.

''Let's take a picture.'' - he suddenly said. ''Why?'' - I asked confused. ''So when I'm not here you could look at it and remember our meeting.'' - he said as he blushed a bit or it was just my imagination. We took a photo and it turned out so beautiful.

It got late and he said he has to go back to the hotel. We went back in the city and said our goodbyes. ''Thank you for everything, Cameron.'' - he said and smiled at me. ''I should be the one thanking you.'' - I said.

Just remember.. never give up and follow your heart, Cam. Trust yourself and you will find your path again. I believe in you. You have to make that dream of becoming a photographer come true.'' - he winked at me and with that we went our seperate ways.

It's weird how an unexpected encounter, some sweet words from a stranger and a beautiful smile could change your life completely....
