As happy as she was to be away from home, she still didn't want to be in school. She decided she'll walk down the street to the corner store near the school. For a few years now she'd been saving up any money she got, she had almost $800 now. She wanted to show off to her friends except, she didn't have any. Another reason she didn't want to be at school. She didn't want to see her old friends. Friends she thought would be there for her until the end, yet as soon as she showed signs of depression, they left. She hated them for that. "How could they do that?" She thought.
When she got back to school half of first period was already over. If the teacher hadn't changed seats she figured she could just slip in without him knowing. She arrived at the door into the classroom and hesitated, trying to remember the class. It was math, she knew, but couldn't remember what they were doing before the break. She knew there were going to be a couple new students coming from different schools. There was an empty seat next to her, and she almost prayed that the seat hadn't been filled by someone new. She opened the door to a substitute teacher, who wasn't paying attention thankfully. Noticing that the seats hadn't changed, she glanced at her seat.
There he was. In the previously empty chair next to her, was the boy from her stop. She tried to see if his eyes were yellow again but figured if they were people would be crowding around him. She sighed and moved to sit down. She put her bag down and began copying down the notes the teacher had left for them to copy. She looked over at the boys open journal, thinking she could copy his notes instead of constantly looking up to the board, but she had no idea what he had written down. It wasn't English. It was just; weird symbols. Too weird to be some Asian language she thought. Only one word was written in the English language, in the center.
"Lamia"
"How the hell do I pronounce that?" She thought. And as if reading her thoughts, the boy said "Lam-iia".
"How did you-""You were staring at it." He said as he closed his journal.
Repeating it to herself "Lam...iia?"
And there it was again! His eyes; flashed yellow for a split second as he nodded in response. She gasped and instantly he looked back down, pulling his hood over his head.
Thinking to herself "Who is this guy? And why are his changing colors? He must know when they do, surely you could feel that..."She didn't want to think about it. She just wanted to get through the day.
