I leaned against the gate, my eyes closed as i tried to imprint the sweet smell of sand, and wind, and heat into my mind. I couldn't have imagined leaving Suna again so soon, and to Konaha either. especially not after what i did there. I betrayed the first person i ever placed my trust in; Kakashi. the look on his face when he saw me leave was... I shuddered at the memory. this is not the time to get emotional. Jaran and Hiso could be here any second. as if on cue i heard two sets of approaching footsteps. I kept my eyes closed, and the two people stopped in front of me, remaining in uncomfortable silence. i sighed quietly and opened my silver, unconcealed eyes and stared at the pair of them. they were armed, although not heavily, both wearing matching green vests and Black sweat pants. Hiso had his headband around his forehead (hahah Sakura) like Neji wears it, and his black hair fell to his shoulders in slightly wavy lines. his brown eyes were narrowed on my small frame, and my lack of weapons. he obviously didn'd know much about me. Jarans light blond hair was longer, just below his shoulders, and annoyingly smooth. his headband around his leg and his dark blue eyes glared at me. that was until he noticed i was looking at him. he immediately lowered his eyes and i raised my eyebrow at him.
"well? are you two ready?" I asked.
"Yes Captain" Hiso said with a formal salute. i smirked and looked at Jaran quizzically
"hmm..." he muttered. i frowned
"what was that lackey? i didn't quite hear you there" I mocked. i saw him glare at the ground before saying in a dark voice
"yes captain" I smiled
"good. lets go"
we were one third of the way there when the sun was getting low in the sky. the run was silent. Jaran was sent forward to scout, and it seemed Hiso took his job as guard rather seriously, never leaving me side, hand on his weapons pouch the whole while. I abruptly stopped, causing my two subordinates to stumble. they stopped though and looked to me quizzically. i smirked
"we'll set up camp here." I told them. they were both winded, and neither gave me any protest, so i reached into my bag, pulled out a two man tent, tossed it to them, and set up a fire. fire wasn't my element however, and so i reached into my pack and grabbed the matches. i attempted to light one, and it broke in half. i swore and tried repeatedly with several others. fire really just didn't agree with me.
"damn it!"
Jaran POV
"you should help the captain with the fire Jaran. fire is your element after all" Hiso whispered over to me. i chose to ignore him, thinking bitterly to myself. there was no way that i was going to help that filthy little-
"Jaran did you hear me? i said you should help the captain" Hiso intruded. i looked into his determined face and sighed. he wasn't going to let it go. grumbling to myself i dropped my corner of the tent and sulked over to Liiran. why me?
