25 Wishes

Chapter 2

  "Okay, stop," our band director called, "rest of class is free time." The whole band cheered. I smiled and started taking apart my clarinet.

  April leaned over and whispered, "Ms. Cardwell has been being really nice lately, I wonder if something's up with her." She wiggled her eyebrows. I laughed and closed my clarinet case.

  "Let's leave our band director alone," I said. She gasped as I got up from the set and opened my locker and set my band binder and instrument case in it.

  "Since when have you turned down getting new info?" She asked, putting her hand on my forehead like she thought I was sick or something. I chuckled and pushed her hand away.

  "I don't need info on Ms. Cardwell, April," I answered, shutting my band locker.

  "You make a fair point," April replied, then she turned and walked over to her boyfriend, Brian. I groaned. I've never liked Brian, he was always hanging out with other people. He didn't even have the nerve to sit with his own girlfriend at lunch! What kind of boyfriend is that? Brian smiled and gave April a kiss on her cheek. I sighed, sitting down in a chair.

  "Looks like someone's jealous," Xander said, sitting down in a chair next to me.

  "I'm not jealous," I replied, crossing my arms. He gave me his signature look saying, I can see right through your bullshit.

  I smiled and said, "Okaayy, maybe I am jealous." He smiled and winked at me, silently saying, Knew it. He turned around all of sudden. I followed his gaze and saw Joey, Sasha, and Elaine make hand gestures to him. I smirked, as he turned back around towards me.

"You shouldn't be jealous of April," he said, "You are so much better than her...you're smart, funny, caring, beautiful.." He froze, apparently saying more than he wanted to say. I smiled, feeling my face growing hot.

"That's so sweet Xander..." I said, reaching for his arm, but then I suddenly got a bad feeling in my stomach, a really bad feeling. Not like those gut feelings, but like a sick feeling. I then started getting dizzy.

"Xander..." I said, grabbing my head.

"Natalie?" Xander said, looking concerned. I grabbed his shoulder, feeling awful.

"I don't feel well..." I said, leaning to one side. I then suddenly felt a sudden pain on my right side. I just fell to the floor, didn't I?

"NATALIE!" I heard April scream. I saw Sasha brushing hair out of my face, and Elaine was fanning me. I felt Xander squeeze my hand.

"Call 911!" Joey yelled at the other band members who were just standing around in shock.

"N.." April said, she was in my vision now. She grabbed my other hand and squeezed it, "You're gonna be okay."

I felt my eyes slowly shutting. I tried to keep them open, but it wasn't long before my eyes shut completely and I felt I was consumed in a ocean of black water.
