Marna woke up refreshed and headed downstairs. Her dad was waiting in the living room, holding his newspaper like he always did. When she told him good morning, he put it down and gave her an angry look.
"Marna, what did I tell you about creepy men? Why did I see you coming out of a black LIMOUSINE driven by this weird guy last night?
- Dad, he's a friend... Marna replied
- Should I trust you? I sure hope you're not into some inappropriate things, young lady. He looked like a rich profiteur.
-Darn it dad, Sethyr is a nice guy!
-Oh so that's his name? That's... Unusual."
He got up and walked to the kitchen. Marna decided to avoid the awkward atmosphere and went back to her room to prepare for the day.

While at school, Marna kept thinking about last night's events. She didn't tell her friends, because she knew they would either joke that she hallucinated or make Sethyr look like the perfect husband ironically. At lunch time, she received a very anticipated call: the store manager:
"Hello, Miss Marna?
- Yes, that would be me.
- Okay, this is to inform you that you are considered for the job, as your interview had some strong moments. However, since you are still debuting in the working world, we cannot guarantee you will get the best advantages and pay, regardless of your competencies.
-Oh... thank you for the heads up, I'll have to think about it. Can I call this evening to tell you what I decided?
-Of course, I don't want to push you. But be quick, because a few other people are lined up and I cannot leave them hanging."
Great. Knowing that I will most likely be underpaid just because of my age makes me want to consider Sethyr's offer... What am I saying? I can't work for demons!
But... The place seems so inviting... And as far as I know, most of his staff is around my age, so we would get along great.
ARGH!

Marna arrived home at five, still conflicted. She knew she could always quit the store job if it wasn't what she desired. Still, the job at Sethyr's Sirkus was quite interesting. She took the phone and called the demon's number, hoping he would help her make the right choice.
"Hello, Sethyr here, who is this?
-Hi, this is Marna
-Who? inquired the demon
-Huh? You know, the human you met last night, replied Marna, a bit confused.
-Haha, I was just pulling your leg, how could I forget you? So anyways, what did you call me for?"
She then explained what the store manager told her about work conditions and expressed her hesitation. He listened quietly, but started making more and more noises of approval when she went on and on about working at the bar.
He really wants me there, she thought.
They discussed the pros and cons together until Marna made up her mind, tired of talking:
"You know what? The store can look elsewhere, I think I would rather work for you.
-Oh! Great! You start tomorrow at 6, I'll teach you everything you need to know.
-Wait what? I thought I would only come in on weekends. I have school, remember?
-Don't worry about that, honey."
He hung up, leaving the poor girl to herself. There goes my free time! At least I should make good money from this...
At least I hope...?
Somehow, I trust him.
Why though? He's a demon, for heaven's sake!
Okay. Homework time.
Urgh...

Author's Note: Hello readers! I'm sorry for the sudden dissapearance ;v;. But I feel like writing again, so there you go! I'm too attached to my characters to abandon this story.
Also, very very special thanks to the very very special icesnowguy44 for doing a grandiose dramatic reading of the past chapters in private. Protip: Read Marna's dialogue in a very pretention (Heathers) way. 100x more entertaining.
