Chapter 12

It's been a week since we left California. Jc and I talk everyday all day. I've maybe seen my parents twice all week. Tj just stays at my house. He and Ricky text here and there. I think Ricky is still a little unsure of what he wants.

"You texting Ricky?"

"Yea. He wants to know when we're moving."

"Oh."

Tj shook his head.

"When are we moving Mae? It's been a week. You still haven't told your parents you want too."

"I'm going to tell them tonight. We're suppose to go eat dinner."

"Oh. I'll stay here then."

"No they want you to come."

He shook his head.

"Should I?"

"Duh! I couldn't survive it if you didn't!"

"Okay okay I will."

He said with a smile.

We go upstairs to get ready. We had to dress formal so I slide on a a black laced dress with black heels. I curled my hair and waterfall braided it. My makeup was formal but natural.

We pulled up to the restaurant. It was one of those expensive steakhouses. We told the waiter who we were and he showed us to my parents.

"Hi sweetie!" My dad said.

"Don't you look beautiful!" my mom chimed.

"And hello to you Tj!" They said in unison.

"Hey Mr and Mrs Gay."

We sit and make small talk until our food comes out. Then it gets serious.

"Macie, we have something we'd like to talk to you about."

I put my fork down and looked and my dad. He looked very serious.

"Okay. Shoot."

"Well we know how you liked California a lot. That's all you've been able to talk about since you got home." He took a breath. "And well we know you submitted applications to colleges over there and got accepted. We have some money set aside for you to buy a house there. Of course you're gonna have to pay for everything else. But we don't want you to go alone. So if Tj can go that will make us feel better about it."

I was shaking with excitement.

"Really? oh my gosh. Thank you sooooooo much!"

"Sweety," my mom started. "Calm down. You have to decide and contact the colleges back to make sure your still able to go. Which should be no problem with your grades."

"I already know I can. The admissions officer I talked to said I could come anytime."

"Alright then. It's settled. You will go to California." My dad said smiling.

"Of course you'll have to visit us though!" my mom said.

"Of course I will."

We finished eating and talked about California then headed back home. If be leaving in two days.
