Skylar glanced one last time at her now empty home, closing the front door afterwards. She already moved twice, only because of her mum's job.
In her first school, Skylar didn't really have a lot of friends, so she didn't mind moving at all. No friends, nobody to miss, right?
Same happened in her second school.
But in this school, her third now, she actually had friends; Bella and Anna. They came up to her the first day she stepped into the long hallway. They were nice, wanted to get to know her and showed her around the school.
That day, Skylar went to school half an hour earlier. She knew she had to pick up her schedule and get to know the school's map, so she decided to do it and not be late for her first class.
That's how she met Anna. Anna is almost every day half an hour early to school. It's because her mum's shift starts early so if Anna doesn't feel like walking to school, her mum's gonna give her a ride.
And Bella, Skylar met her in the cafeteria while waiting for Anna.
The three of them have been best friends ever since, but now, Skylar is moving to the other end of the world; Australia.
Skylar was already sick of moving all the time. She didn't want to leave her friends, she didn't want to leave her home. Skylar was finally happy where she was, but, they had to move.
It was Skylar and her mum only. She is the only child. Skylar sometimes, while she was a child, wanted a sibling. She was always kind of lonely, so she wanted somebody to keep her company.
Skylar had kind of a rough past, her father, if you could even call him a father, was in her life until she was five. It was all okay until one day, he showed up drunk at 3 am and started throwing stuff around the house. Things were getting worse and worse and her father started to hit her mum. That lasted for about 2 months. That's when one day, her father just disappeared. She never had anyone though, just her mother.
But even when her mum was there physically, she would always do stuff for her work. At first, little Skylar was sad, no children to play with, no mum to talk with.
But eventually, she got used to it.Skylar found her own ways of keeping herself busy and not needing any friends. She would always decorate her room, watch movies all the time and build pillow forts in her room.
That was ages ago, but now, Skylar got used to having friends and doing anything with them every day, so she wasn't sure how could she be something she used to be. She forgot how it feels to be alone and she hoped she wouldn't have to remember it. Skylar didn't even think that she's going to find friends in Australia. She thought that Australia was a whole different place from the US, but was it really?
