*Meredith's perspective*
I was staring at the small bus window placed next to my seat, with my headphones on, listening to some music, as loud as I can only hear my thoughts. I just came to this excursion to escape from the boredom and routine of the town, and that was the perfect occasion. In the bus, none of my classmates were disturbing me, it was just me and everything crossing my mind. The cars were passing and I was wondering about where do the people go. The field was so peaceful and the wind was softly blowing across the wheat. At one point, I got bored of the cars' movement and I decided to turn my head around. All of my classmates were having fun. They were laughing and joking about some irrelevant stuff, as they always do. The girl next to me, my best friend, Cassidy, was facing the chairs behind us, to talk to Thaddeus and Sun, two of our friends. I was curious about their discussion so I took off my headphones. I got involved in it, and my stupid boredom has gone away. Sun was telling us about her boyfriend, one of Thaddeus' friends. I was so proud because I encouraged her to write him, when he was only her crush. I wish I had something so special and pure like they have. I wish Thaddeus would notice me like that guy noticed her, but all he does is pretending he doesn't care. Now he appears in our conversation. I can't help but stare at his lips vibrating, while the words come out of his mouth. I don't really pay attention to what he is saying, I only admire him. My staring is suddenly stopped by his deep voice which is calling me.
Thaddeus: Meredith, what do you think?
Meredith: Umm.. Are you talking to me?
Thaddeus: How many Merediths are in this bus? Wait, did you even pat attention to what I said?
Meredith: No, sorry, I'm a little bit pensive. Can you please repeat?
Thaddeus: I asked you what do you think about telling Michael to join us to the movies next Sunday.
Meredith: I like the idea. Mike didn't hang out with us since forever!
Cassidy: Talking about Michael, why does he seem so sad?
Meredith: I wish I knew as well.
In reality I knew everything, but Mike is my best friend and I don't want to betray him, even though Cassidy is my friend too.
We changed the subject and we kept on talking about a lot of things. I love that my friends are the type of persons I can tell absolutely everything, and I am 101% sure they won't judge me. We tell each other our problems and laugh about our miserable existences. I really enjoy this atmosphere. I told them about my weight problem and all of my disorders, Cassidy told us about her crush and everything she hates, Sun kept on talking about her boyfriend and Thaddeus told us some cool memories of his. I love all that trust between the four of us. They are the best friends I could ever ask for. And I also love the fact that my feelings for Thaddeus do not damage our friendship.
At some point, the bus became so shaky and it's moves were really weird, but nobody noticed, except me and Sun.
Sun: I saw a sign few minutes ago saying our destination is in the opposite direction, but I didn't pay attention.
Meredith: Wait, guys, let me check the GPS.
Thaddeus: There is no signal. I tried to browse the web and I couldn't.
Meredith: Fuck it. Someone ask the homeroom teacher where we are.
I call for Audrey, mrs Halle's favorite student, and my friend as well, so she could see what has happened.
Meredith: AUDREY!
Audrey: Edith? Did you notice he went in the wrong direction?
Meredith: Yes I did. Tell mrs Halle about it.
Audrey: She is sleeping. She doesn't care.
Cassidy: Fucking typical.
Sun: Guys, I am getting really scared.
Meredith: Everything will be ok, Sun..
The next moment we fell into a sinkhole, and that was the beginning of our end. The bus fell down and we were all shaking. A strong guy broke the vent placed on the ceiling, so we can get out. None of us was dead, except the adults: the driver (we figured out he died before the crash, that's why the bus seemed uncontrolled) and mrs Halle.
We were in the middle of nowhere, lost, only having some backpacks and cellphones with no signal. Some of us had bruises, because of the broken glass. We couldn't do anything, so we decided to sleep there, on our clothes. Luckily, we had food in our backpacks, for later. We walked around that site and there was nothing to find, just a really dark forest and some plain ground. We found a place, far away from the bus, so we could stay the night in peace. We were all really scared. It was the first time I saw Daniella, the cruel bitch, leader of the squad of girls that hate me, crying. I started crying to, my friends were too. We were hugging each other so we could calm down, but it didn't work. Cassidy lit a cigarette, like she always does. She made me pay attention to my knee. I was so scared of the crash that I didn't even notice that it was bleeding and the bone was showing.
Thaddeus: Meredith, is your knee okay?
Meredith: No, it isn't. I had a surgery on it years ago. I am really afraid.
Thaddeus: DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY DISINFECTANT?
Laurence: I actually do. What happened?
Thaddeus: Meredith is hurt.
As soon as Laurence gave him the disinfectant, Thaddeus took of a T-shirt from his backpack and soaked it in, placing him on my knee.
Thaddeus: It will burn a little. Tighten my hand if you need to.
I started screaming because that pain was too much for me. After he knotted it, he gave me a big hug, and invited the other people we get along with.
Thaddeus: You are ok. We are ok. We just have to stick together.
When the moon was up, we layed our jackets down and used them as blankets. It was still cold for us, but it was something. We arranged out improvised beds in a circle, so everyone could see everyone. We started losing track of time. Good thing we had our phones until their batteries finished.
