Looking for Zavac

We were looking for any signs of Zavac, but came up empty handed.

One night, Jesper was on lookout, and I was at the till.

I forgot he was still awake, so when he came up behind me, slipping his arms around my waist,  I jumped.

"Hey Jes."

"Why've you been calling me that again lately?"

"If you don't want me to, I won't."

"It's perfectly fine, I just wanted to know."

"I don't know."

"Ok, can you sing please?"

"Oh... I don't know..."

"Pleeeaaase?"

I leaned my head back so I could see him, and his eyes were full of pleading, just like his voice.

"Fine."  I sighed.

"Thank you!"

Well, I know the feeling

Of finding yourself stuck out on the ledge

And there ain't no healing

From cutting yourself with the jagged edge

I'm telling you that, it's never that bad

Take it from someone who's been where you're at

Laid out on the floor

And you're not sure you can take this anymore

So just give it one more try to a lullaby

And turn this up on the radio

If you can hear me now

I'm reaching out

To let you know that you're not alone

And if you can't tell, I'm scared as hell

'Cause I can't get you on the telephone

So just close your eyes

Oh, honey here comes a lullaby

Your very own lullaby

Please let me take you

Out of the darkness and into the light

'Cause I have faith in you

That you're gonna make it through another night

Stop thinking about the easy way out

There's no need to go and blow the candle out

Because you're not done

You're far too young

And the best is yet to come

So just give it one more try to a lullaby

And turn this up on the radio

If you can hear me now

I'm reaching out

To let you know that you're not alone

And if you can't tell, I'm scared as hell

'Cause I can't get you on the telephone

So just close your eyes

Oh, honey here comes a lullaby

Your very own lullaby

Well, everybody's hit the bottom

Everybody's been forgotten

When everybody's tired of being alone

Yeah, everybody's been abandoned

And left a little empty handed

So if you're out there barely hanging on...

Just give it one more try to a lullaby

And turn this up on the radio

If you can hear me now

I'm reaching out

To let you know that you're not alone

And if you can't tell, I'm scared as hell

'Cause I can't get you on the telephone

So just close your eyes

Oh, honey here comes a lullaby

Your very own lullaby

Oh, honey here comes a lullaby

Your very own lullaby

"Your voice is still amazing."

"Thanks."

Third Person P.O.V

In Halasholm

"Erak! That's enough! Put that tankard down!" Karina yelled.

Erak was the only one left in the building other than her.

"Don't tell me what to do, woman." he grumble.

He was drunk. Lately,  since the Herons left, he was almost always drunk.

The last thing he said to his daughters, he yelled at them, and now there is a possibility they will not come back alive.

In fact, he told one he would disown her.

"How would you feel if Cora and Missy came home, just to find you drunk?"

"She hates me."

"She doesn't! She was upset because you called her hopeless!"

"I'm hopeless!"

"Stop drinking. You're turning into what Thorn was!"

"I'm too worried about them. All Cora has dealt with lately is boys fighting over her. No one deserves my daughter!"

Jesper's mother came in. Erak continued to drink.

"Erak, I found something you probably want to see." she said.

"He's drunk, but he is surprisingly still thinking straight."

Jesper's mother handed a stack of paper to Erak, and he began to look through them.

"These are all to Cora..." he commented. He emptied a tankard.

"Every month he would take one day and try to write a letter to her, telling her things he couldn't in real life."

"Oh wow." Karina said softly. Erak drained another tankard.

"Change in my statement earlier. Maybe he deserves her, only because he knows he doesn't."

That's when Erak passed out.

Cora's P.O.V

What surprised me was that everyone was awake and had heard me sing.

"Erak didn't lie about your voice." Thorn grinned.

"She's always been able to sing like that." Missy told them. She was better than me, why is she bragging about me? Because I'm not doing it for myself?

That's when we caught sight of Wolfwind.

I felt a moment of  panic. If they brought us back now, we would be ridiculed.

Jesper sensed my fear, and intertwined his fingers with mine, squeezing my hand reassuringly.

Luckily, Wolfwind didn't spot us.
