Chapter 3

A loud bang awoke me, Kellien’s arms still wrapped around my waist. I blushed softly and tried to crawl out of his grasp. The second his arms loosened he only tightened them and pulled me closer. I groaned and tried again. Still no different. It’s no use! I thought.

I yanked very hard, not caring about his lost sleep. “Wake up, Kellien!” I said quite loudly.

He nearly fell off my bed, making me giggle. “Don’t you know not to disturb a man when he’s sleeping!”

Footsteps sounded in the kitchen. I stiffened, breathing in slowly. Mom is home. I realized.

Kellien noticed my weird behavior. “Some one home?” He asked me, concern on his face.

I nodded. “I think it’s my mom.” I told him, yanking out of his arms and sliding off my dress. I grabbed a pair of shorts and a tee and pulled them on.

“Uhh..” Kellien said. I instantly flushed. I’d forgotten he was in here.

I grabbed his arm. “You saw nothing.” I warned him. “Now let’s go see my mom.”

He chuckled. “A little hard to forget a body as gorgeous as yours..” He muttered.

I rolled my eyes. “Well you’re gonna have too. The tent is already pitched.” I said, giving him a wink.

He adjusted himself and headed down the stairs with me. My mom had been gone for about 3 months at this point.

As I entered the kitchen I looked over my mom. It had been so long. Her hair was a bit shorter than mine, and blonde, brown eyes. She was 5ft 6 and very thin. She had amazing bone structure. She looked nothing like me. I often wondered if I was adopted, though I knew I wasn’t.

My mom smiled at me. “I’ve missed you, Lyric.” She said to me, pulling me into a hug.

I smiled back softly, hugging her back. “Same.” I lied. I never really missed her. She was pretty damn selfish.

“I want you to go out shopping. We’re having guests over for dinner.” She spoke, handing me a wad of cash.

I was caught off guard. “What do you mean ‘guests’?” I asked her.

“I’ve been seeing someone. And I have an announcement to make at dinner.” She said bluntly, going on with unpacking like it was nothing.

I looked over at Kellien. He was completely stiff; his face scrunched like something disturbed him. “Are you okay?” I asked him.

He seemed to snap out of it because he smiled at me, though it didn’t reach his eyes. “I’ll be back at dinner.” He said, running off before I could object, though I wouldn’t have. I was glad to have him be there for me.

“May I have the car?” I asked her. “It’s my only way of getting something nice.”

She handed me the keys. “Be careful.” She told me, putting away her cloths.

I rolled my eyes and slid my sandals on. I yanked the garage door open and stared at my mother’s car. It was a nice silver convertible and I gladly got in, started the ignition and went to go shop for something pretty to wear.

Three hours later I was home in my room, looking over the little black dress I’d decided on and munching on a pretzel. I was already showered but I was cleaning my room a bit.
